Gah! I managed to become one of those idiots you see driving around with a scrape along a panel yesterday.
I was reversing down a dirt track at the farm and started to turn in front of a fence. I then completely failed to see the post for the swipe cards for the gate and ... crunch!
I now have a mangled drivers door and a wing mirror held on with masking tape. Normally this wouldn't be a problem - I'd just go and get a new door and fit it as it's not an expensive car to fix - but I'm flat broke at the moment while I save every penny I can for my house move (damn stamp duty!).
It means I need to wait till after my move so I know I have spare cash again, which means going to PF with a car that looks like it had an argument with the armco

Are there any other broken cars going? Maybe we could form a hddle in one corner and try to hide each others bruises from the world?

re-edit for spelling mistakes

Why don't you get a windbreak, attach it to one side of the car and the ground, at a 45º, and call it a gazebo. People will think that you are frightfully posh and be none the wiser.

Ooo! Good idea - though now I've told people to anybody that's read this will know I havea dent... D'oh!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one going in a car that's not in mint condition... not that it would be without the door being a mess...

Or put a bunch of stickers over it taking the pi$$ like BG did on the Bentley for the Le Mans trip. THB its more of a social occasion than a place to show off the car - just leave it how it is and take the ribbing.

At this rate I'll be going in my girlfriend's knackered rover with a dodgy gearbox unless I can get a new wheel bearing and hub carrier sourced, fitted and MOT'ed before the event. The clock is ticking and my fingers and toes are all crossed.

you might want to uncross your fingers, it makes working on the car so much easier.

The rain has reduced the obvious visual effect of the ... interfacing I had, so not quite as bothered about it now.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one, and a little sad that there are so many sick cars out there without a full support network or charity to help them out - at least they have sympathetic owners.

See you all next weekend!

Mine's just been finished, been off the road since August! Still that was just mech stuff, the front right wing is a right mess after I tried my hand at spraying

With any luck I'll make/find some time to wash it too, it's covered in green stuff from the tree out the front of my house

Well some chavs have today decided to cut the lines to my windscreen washers. So while I may not have a scrape like yours, Ill be the one with an opaque windscreen and a crushed front due to having driven directly into a wall on the way there

That's crap! My Aunt has recently put up CCTV round her house to catch the little chavtastic bar stewards that keep keying her car. I'm not sure how she'll deal with it when she finds out who it was though.

I've been away on a stag do, I got back to the car last night, and realised that the dent is still very obvious and I was just kidding myself. Oh well, life goes on - as long as I have a new one fitted by the MegaHoon it'll all be ok.

At least it'll be a talking point
You won't be able to see it on the way there when you're behind the wheel with your boot down And when you arrive, just park the car with the offending panel facing away from your drinking zone and enjoy the car from another angle

Catalytic Converter
Pretty much every bush in the suspension system
Rear Shocks

after more than a year I would think that they are healed ... mind you, Dave still had a flag disguising his door ding on last September's MegaHoon hehe
