Has anyone ever repaired one?

I doubt it as they are usually a pre programmed microprocessor based unit with no serviceable parts. If a driver tranny has died maybe but generally no.

Mine's packed up too. At least I think it has. There's a burn between two of the terminals on the motor side. I've got a couple of electronics engineers at work having a look at it. In the meantime I'm trying to check the fan motor is ok. Does anyone have a Chimaera wiring diagram (1997 model) or a circuit diagram of the control unit? A replacement is £160 by the way so if I can get mine fixed I'll let you know.
