Between the Great Cambridge and Crews Hill. On the same road as Whitewebbs motor museum and the golf club.

It's like deja vue all over again.

Yep, see here:

http://www.whitewebbsmuseum.co.uk/

It is open every Tuesday and on the last Sunday of the month. (I haven't been myself but have driven past it loads of times).

Ooh! The North London PH crews' first official hoon! ( Only about half a mile from the pub tho'/ biggrin )

That's really weird, I cycle through those woods about twice a week (admittedly usually in the dark!) and I've never noticed anything.

Definitely have to be done at some point. Another local(ish) thing I have to check out is the B158 from Pottersbar to Hertford, I didn't think there'd be any fun roads that close to London, but apparently it's rather good. Don't suppose anyone can recommend any others?

edit: drove past last night and I still didn't see it - is it on the Bulls Cross side of the The KIng & Tinker or the Enfield Side?

I think the road your talking about starts just before Northaw and ends up in Cuffley/Cheshunt area. About halfway along you have a long straight with 3 massize hills affectionally know as the Cuffley Bumps.Kind of difficult to explain but it is a pretty steep slope that rises and dips 3 times and has a hairpin right at the end.

I wouldnt condone any speeding (obviously) but i would challenge anyone to go down there faster than i did in my courtesy car 2 days ago (about 90mph over the last bump). It really is amazing how fast you can drive a 1.25L when the accident repair centre it belongs to has given you the worst service you've had since Mcdonalds drive-thru.

Also check out Coopers Lane between Potters Bar and Cruise Hill.Mostly deserted and some challenging corners in quick succession.I got driven down there at 70mph+ by an 80 year old ex-army driver who i worked with at MiniSpares in Potters Bar.Most frightening driving experience of my life.

I don't want to come across as young, reckless and cocky but i personally belive Enfield has some great driving roads and aslong as its not rush hour and your a competant driver, you can have a lot of fun without endangering the lives of anybody else (other than yourself, but that happens everytime you get in your car anyway if your me)

Basically enjoy...

I haven't actually tried it yet (I'm moving to the area and although I sort of live there already, my 'fun car' is still garage in Chelmsford!) and as a result I haven't actually tried it yet, but I think the one you're talking about is different. The B158 goes all the way up to Hertford, but it sounds like the two could be combined!

Dunno which road it was, but I drove through Northaw a while back and thought "this could be promising" smile A few speedbumps in the slower stretches - which whilst I don't intend going quickly through the villages, could still take my exhaust off.

Is Coopers Lane the really, really bumpy one - kind of corregated almost? ...just found it on google maps and it looks like the one! Great fun in the right kind of car, but you need something well damped.

I also went off trying to find the Whitewebbs motor museum the other day and the later bits of Whitewebbs Lane would probably be fun if there was nobody around.

I'd love to hear of any more interesting roads in the area - or indeed a little bit further afield. Maybe if you start heading north along the B158 you'll get to some fun roads in the Hatfield/Hertford sort of area?

Try a route that takes in these locations

Lunch at the Auberge Du Lac (Brocket Hall)
Crooked Chimney (Lemsford?)
Rising Sun (Northaw)
Shaws Corner
(Please don't buy a drink in all of them on the same day)
Across then to Mosquito museum
Then back via Potters Bar, across to Broxbourne and back home.

Plot them up on a map and you will have hours of great driving fun.

Yep, something like that.

Not checked entire route you plotted exactly but would probably route via Ayott St Peter from Shaws Corner, and avoid centre of Hertford, Little Berkhamsted also has some nice roads, also might consider going down the Ridgeway to Cuffley & Goffs Oak on way back to Enfield.

All those roads are pretty fab driving.

Well it's forecasting snow this weekend, so I think I'll stay in and finish my knitting first whistle

I'll see if I can get my Blaze sorted back to road trim as well

How about one week later, the clocks will have changed by then and be a bit lighter in the evening? Say Wednesday 2nd? I wouldn't normally recommend a change just for one person but I suspect blib represents 33.3% of the meet. hehe
