I went to the show on Monday as busy Sunday and must say the club turn out was terrible. 3 cars.
Just Duncs G4 and two G31's? I know the weather was not great and the turn out was better on the Sunday but it’s the worst turnout I have ever seen in 20 years. Poor old John had the tent /BBQ and all the gear to clear up virtually on his own which is not on.
The lack of evening entertainment for members does not help but one chap had come all the way from Norway and it was a little embarrassing to say the least.
His words were "don’t your members want to get together and talk Ginetta's anymore" "I cannot understand them"

I understand motions were made to change things at the Club AGM but they were not made early enough for the meeting sadly. Club rules and all! I'm sure motions could be made before the next Committee meeting however which will take place at Newark Kit car show June 17-18th.
I will be organising our Club stand at the show so please come along and join us and lets see a better turnout.
You should all try to direct any issues you have to the club committee and if you cant talk to one committee member then try another who attends the meetings to get your point heard.
Now that should get you all fired up -------------------or will it?

The turn out on Sunday was very good, can't speak for monday but I could only make it on the sunday as other domestic pressures had to be accounted for! Mind you, I wasn't even aware that the GOC would be present on sunday.

All of the Ginetta owners on the sunday clealy love their cars and love to talk about them so maybe there are other reasons that they didn't turn up on monday.

I would love to come to the Newark show, but me and my Ginetta will be at Le Mans.

Maybe Ginetta owners going to Le Mans should get together?

The clun mag could be more specific about which events the GOC will be attending with a calender published early in the year.

I for one would be happy to attend various events as I love an excuse to get the car out as long as it's not raining!

Doesn't seem to have fired up much of a response Harvey.

I'm sure you'll make a better job of it at Newark. I'll be there on the Cleveland Kitcar Club stand so will probably catch up with you for a pint on Saturday night if you're camping. I'll also pop along to the GOC stand if I'm still welcome.

Did you no there are 250 members less than last year !!!! why ? ? ? ? maybe the leader will tell us?
Being that he and the editor admits to not having enough time to do more of this voluntary job.
Maybe they should let the persons in the club who have got the time and inclination to start to rebuild the club.
Maybe the club officials should get off the fence and vote in the members that want to do it.!!
It beats me why they persist in staying if they have the regard they claim for the club !! I think its a two mouthy big fish in a small pond thing!!!!!

I did not realized at last year AGM that the president of the Ginetta owners club voted in favor of voting for a change of officials (vote of no confidence I would say) in the chairman and editor !!!
(the vote never happened because of technicality claimed by the chairman)
No wonder the club is the way it is. If the president has no confidence in them to make good " who has"!!! maybe the ones who put themselves forward should be let to have a go.
Let's face it unless you've got a G20 and or are involved in the race series there is nothing in the mag worth reading. i was told out of all the 400 odd members of the club only about 20 are G20 owners, the club is obviously alining itself with the factory rather than being an independent owners club, being as it is me saying this I realized that no one will comment on this issue unless you are a G20 owner of course, but for the sake of a genuine constructive discussion it would be nice for a broad section of owners to post their views.
In reality, nothing has changed since then, " AGM " nobody wants to commit to the club because of them but none wants to say that to their face.
YEAH YEAH i know they wont to be anonymous just like ME !!!

I'm no longer a member of the club and have no real axe to grind here but feel I should comment on the content of the newsmag. I used to feel that unless you owned a G4 or G15 then there was little in the newsmag worth reading. I would have liked more factory/race series content but none was forthcoming at the time. I even took the bold step of contributing to the mag with G27 and G32 articles and pictures that were gratefully received by the editor.

The reality is that, whether or not you think the editor does a good job, he is going to the include articles submitted to him. He's a part time editor not a full time journalist. If the factory are now raising their profile with regular interesting press releases it would be ridiculous not to include them in a "Ginetta" linked publication on the grounds that it may not interest owners of earlier cars.

If you want articles in the newsmag about G4, G12 G15, G21, classic racing etc. etc. then put pen to paper and send it to the editor. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Apologies for this posting being well after the event....and lots to comment on.

Harvey - I think some of the reasons for the poor turnout on Stoneleigh Monday last year were: (1) there was no-one in charge of the event (I'd resigned due to time pressure from work the previous January) and no-one from the membership had volunteered to take my place, (2) the emphasis on the Sunday AGM means that's the day when most people turn up, (3) there's fewer people every year staying all weekend (maybe the weather was a big factor), (4) there was no Sunday evening get together - as you know for 2005 we went to the pub in Leek Wotton BUT as the turn out was mostly committee members, and their partners, 'forced' to go I'm not surprised nothing happened last year. John T and myself had agrued for the lunchtime BBQ to be moved to the evening and that we should use the entertainment on the show ground BUT no-one else from the club was in favour.

The Winner - every year at the AGM the Chairman and all the committee members stand down. It's then up to the members present to vote who they want for the next year. This procedure is made very clear at every AGM. If the club's members want someone else to serve as Chairman and Newsmag editor then they can elect them. But in practice I've never seen a committee member who wanted to serve again not be re-elected. I'm not sure the present system works in the best interest of the club. Maybe there needs to be a rule that committee members can only serve 2/3 years before taking a year off ?

G32Turbo - I'm in complete agreement with your assessment of the club's newsmag. When I joined the club the newsmag articles got as far as G15 and went no further - pants for a G27 & G32 owner.
