Oil Filter thread size

What size is the thread on the 5.0 / 5.7 ltr Holden V8? I think it is metric with it being Aussie, about an M20 but just wanted to check. I want to fit a sandwhich plate to run an oil temp / pressure gauge and have a choise of M20 thread or 3/4 NPT.
