There used to be a game called Tyrian but it won't run on anything later than Windows 98. It's a nice simple 2 dimensional, fly your spacecraft and shoot things before they shoot you. Almost like an upmarket space invaders. None of this strategy planning, take weeks setting everything up first lark. Just nice and simple, start the game and blow things up. Just what is needed for 10 minutes relief from staring at a computer screen doing proper work. When it all gets too much, just go away and blow a few things to pieces!

Does such a game still exist?

There are plenty of Flash games around that you can access via your web browser that will do the same thing.

Try www.nearlygood.com/games

There are many games listed so just scroll through all the pages until you find something you like.

Ah... Salamander. An old favourite. Works a treat on my GP2X too!

I've got a full copy too, but it won't run properly on a machine running anything later than Windows 98. version came out that was supposed to run under Win2000 but that was decidedly flakey and I think the writers then gave up. I can't run games from websites on my video editing machine as it doesn't have web access and it's after a couple of hours of complex video editing when I feel like blowing something up to break the monotony.....

Tried running it in compatibility mode? I swear I used to play it on 2k, and maybe even xp.
