Any ideas why one my FOS caliper's 'rest' position does not keep the pistons gently pushing against the brake pads (as does the nearside)? As a consequence, the pads rattle around, as the top/bottom holes for the retaining pins are slightly elongated ... just touching the brake pedal stops the rattle. Braking itself is fine.
The caliper is fairly new and was fitted by DG, so I'm guess it's the right one .. I've tried bleeding the system, but no air bubbles visible.
Just annoying when driving round town ...
Thanks... Duncs

Possibly a side effect of pad knock-back? How are the bearings?

"the top/bottom holes for the retaining pins are slightly elongated"

This might be the issue? I had a similar problem and different pads sorted it. New ones were Lucas, with a rubber backing on them (stopped them squeaking too) purchased from TR Shop London and has round holes. That sorted it on my car.

The kit we sell has both the anti-squeal and then an anti-rattle spring that holds the pads apart (you mention only anti squeal) if you are say that you have both then the caliper pin holes must be dramatically worn. I have a product that we use on the 4 pot kits we sell that have no anti-rattle kit fittings available, this is an VHT silicone that sticks the piston to the pad and cures rattles esp. when using very hard racing pads on the road.

Err 8.35 a set from ANY TVR Specialist.....these fit the later PB16 caliper with small diameter pins with pads that also have a central hole.... also if have fitted 'A an other brand' REG90 pads then buy some Ferodo 2500 material, I ONLY fit these as standard they are the DB's.
