Well, got the beast back last night with the sports exhaust fitted and my shiny new power steering (don't ask!)
The sound the sound the sound - it's fantastic - rather NASCAR, spent a very happy 20 minutes on the M4 yesterday just stamping on the throttle to hear the rasp. Got a realyl nice 'woofle' at tickover now too.

Only downside of the whole operation is that during the exhaust installation it became evident that the power steering pump was no longer engaging with it's drive unit, so an electric one (as fitted to all later series cars) was sourced and fitted. Personally I can't tell the difference from the old unit - still I guess thats a good thing as I like the original feel. Not a cheap operation, but I am assured the warranty will cough up.

Next stop is to get the mota-lita wheel fitted (hopefully next week), then it's off to France to terrorise the southern coastal roads

Nice one Mr T!

Saw my first Aero on the road yesterday morning in Windsor (wasnt you was it? cant get your picture up on your profile but seem to remember your car being silver?).

This Aero was black with dark maroon wings. Looked fabulous with the quad sports exhaust at the rear burbling away.

Must admit thats the only downside of my side exit exhausts, the rear looks a bit plain.

Anyhow, family away at the outlaws, sun shining. Car beckons to be washed, photographed and driven! Might pop over to Goodwood, even though I am also going to tomorrows breakfast club

Glad you've had it done. It really transforms the car. I love the bangs and pops you get.
Did another trackday in mine yesterday near York. The noise limit was 105dB, and mine just scraped through with 103.5dB. Apparently it was louder than this on lifting off, so I was warned to be very careful under braking. There was also a tuscan challenge car there that wasn't allowed on at first, but demanded a retest after convincing the marshalls that mine sounded miles louder than theirs!
Brilliant day, the weather was fantastic and the car ran brilliantly. I definitely need to change the brake fluid though; I'd been out for quite a few laps and was going down a long straight doing ~130 heading towards a sharp left hand corner, then tried to break and nothing happened. Luckily it is an airfield, so I just carried on down the runway, and after a couple of very slow laps they were fine.
Just got some new tyres to fit - I've got some P-zero neros, so I'll see if they're much better than the rossos. Well impressed with the price - cost me £131 including VAT and fitting.

Thanks guys
Not getting much in the way of pops and bangs on the overrun - guess I need a bit of mild tuning to get that to happen. Still its v loud and throaty - so much so that it was creating a Moses style effect on the A303 on sunday afternoon with hatchbacks diving for cover in front of me to let me through!

Can't wait to hear it at the tunnel in Monaco in a few weeks should be lots of fun!

Do let us know about the Pirelli tyres - intrigues to know if they make a difference to feel / handling / grip etc...

Ok Mr T, I can now see your picture on your profile and of course remember the beautiful Scottish scenery with your equally beautiful Aero in front

So the question is are you the Aero seen in Weybridge recently (same colour!) giving it plenty of 'blipping' on the (very loud) sports exhaust system - that has been spotted by my business partner?

Now I have one I am getting regular reports of Aero sightings. Anyone know how many exist in the UK?

Not mine in Weybridge I don't think! There is another Silver blue Aero out there somewhere as Tony Hetherington on here spotted it last week and phoned me up to complain I was ignroing him in his Lotus!

Mine did a HArrow -> North COrnwall -< Harrow run at the weekend - taking in the delights of the A30 and A303 - great roads on a late friday night!

I think we should plan an Aero8 meet somewhere for late summer - I've never seen another on the road when I've been in mine!

No idea about numbers. A dealer told me about 50 a year (tops) are sold in the UK, so with production since 2002 that would figure that there would be about 200-250 cars out there. Still since most seem to have barely covered 5000 miles when they come up for sale I guess they're not driven regularly enough to get spotted!

I am definitely up for that. I am away until the 18th of August, but available any time after.

I have done nearly a 1000 miles in mine already! Though this includes collection from the factory.

Hope you all enjoy this nice weather.

I'm also pretty booked up in July, so late August / first week in septemeber might be a plan.

Mine is back at the dealers today getting pre flight checks before heading off to France for 2 weeks. Also getting my mota lita wheel added and stainless steel boss - should really smarten the inside up! Will post a pic of the wheel when it's done sometime the end of the week.

Some updates :

RE 18" Magnesium Oz Alloys. Told by dealer that there have recently been case(s?) of cracked Oz alloys, and to get your wheels checkd out just in case. Had mine looked at and all is fine.

Steering wheel / boss fitted today, had new clips added to left sde headlight and new bulbs put in.

Will be getting a full valet tomorrow so should be in fine fettle for france - can't wait. Pic's of car in Monte Carlo will be up next week...
