I had a close friend's wedding to go to last weekend up near Manchester, so i decided to cash in a few of my points and get the F430 Spider F1.

Oh. My. God.

First off, here are some piccies while i try to verbalise how awesome this car is.....

Okay, i'll deal with my misconceptions first. I was dubious about the F1 gearbox, i thought a Ferrari had to have the classic chrome grate, but the F1 on the 430 is amazing. So quick, so confidence-insipring, it enables you to focus 100% on the road and what you're doing, which is a damn good thing when you have 493bhp under your right foot!

The Mannetino switch is a revelation - the Sport setting is perfect for everyday driving, allowing just enough slip and slide to have fun without having to worry about the excess! - turn it off and its a hooligan, though i wouldn't reccommend turning the TCS off, as its quite a handful...

The noise is fantastic - i still prefer the AMV8, but the Fezza is more noticeable with the roof down - that's just something everyone should experience once.

My favourite thing? Going along at about 40, changing down to 4th, and planting the throttle. The noise makes you shiver - a deep gutteral throbbing of the engine, raising to a wail as the valve opens and its screams towards the redline - and license-losing speeds!

I didn't have a great deal of spare space left on my memory stick, so its pretty short, but i've uploaded a little vid of me in the F430 here:

I couldn't have asked for better weather either - the top of my head is now a crisp crimson, perfect Spider weather....

WOW!!!!!! Saw a hard top the other day and I couldn't help but question the size of the wheels. They seem about 2 inches too small aesthetically. Still, when you're in the car you don't see them and I'm sure you reap the benefits.

One question.

Do you mind everybody turning and staring as you drive past?

Lovely, how many miles did you cover in it?

I saw a fantastic wedding convoy on Saturday, 997 Carrera 4S, Bentley Flying Spur, Continental GT, SL500 and various other BMW's and Mercs.

I did quite a lot of miles, around 600, and every one of them gave me wood...

I think the wheels suit it perfectly...

I did feel like a bit of a tt at first, but then you just go with the flow...

They do look sexy don't they. I do like the contrast of Ferrari (is it Rossa?) red with cream leather.

My uncle recently collected one of these cars (in black) and my brother currently has one on order (also in black). They are truly amazing, overall my favourite car I'd have to say, closely followed by the Porsche CGT. I've been in my uncles and it is just so complete; even the roof mechanism works well.

I'm currently in the process of trying to pursuade my Dad that he really wants an F430 Spider as an ideal replacement for the sh*tty M6 he's just got rid of. He's always been of the opinion that they're a bit flashy (which they are), but he has started to see the positives of such a purchase.

It looks slightly better proportioned with the Challenge wheels and carbon ceramic brakes. Expensive options though.

As much as i loved the F1 shift, in retrospect i think i'd still go for the manual.

There's something so satisfying about getting a downshift just right, especially when you're controlling an engine that sounds so good....

Cheers for the responses guys!

Next up should be the Gallardo i reckon...

Kidneys barely make $1000USD these days on the black market.

That's appears to be a very informed comment. Something we should know?

Its very tempting to just give in and throw away all my points by taking the F430 for as long as i can get it now.....

But then i think i have the Gallardo to try, and they're getting a 997 Turbo very soon, oooh the choice!!!!
