For the last few weeks I've been looking for some convex mirrors to replace the flat mirros on my Atom. With the present arrangement. you could hide a bus in the blind spot to the rear/side of the car.

I've visited most of the bike shops around Bridgend, Swansea & Cardiff and in the main - their attitude stinks! They just can't be arsed to get off their fat backsides to help, so my attitude is stuff 'em!

I've always fancied getting a big bike and one things for sure, none of the shops I've visited will get my buisness.

Stick to 4 wheels mate. Tom said you nearly got swiped on Sat on the M4 on the way to Castle Coombe?

Yup, Tom was right. Fortunately I could see it was going to happen and had the brake pedal covered. Being so low down does make me more vulnerable and I'm always more alert when driving the Atom

One things for sure, there's no chance of me dozing off!!

Yeah I guess so, do you always use the skid lid when driving the Atom?

For longer journeys yes. I do need to get a pair of goggles as anything over 30mph makes your eyes water and some days, the bloody midges that hit you in the gob sting like ****.

Just looking at my visor after a run proves the point

I use skiing goggles, I was looking at parachute goggles for night use as they are clear.

Have you tried the Wiley XL-1 shades....? They fit really close, have interchangeable lenses (including clear for night driving) and work really well.

Re. Bike shops re. spares - try Genius Motorcycles on Beresford Road Lane (turn left at Royal Oak lights on Newport Road, then immediately left again). Gareth will be very helpful and I know will love to have a look at your car!!! (Tell him Chris sent you!)

Hi Chris

Thanks for the message. I will go to Beresford Lane when I get the chance - was up that way this morning!

Me and glasses don't get on very well! I got a big head and they never seem to fit well. I have a pair of shoggles and gave them to my kids! Think I'll have to get a pair of ski goggle or similar.

The best of all the bike shops I visited was Bevans on Hadfield Road - at least one of the guys was very helpful but when he passed me onto his 'parts' colleague, well, he didn't want to know and gave the impression that he hated his job and couldn't be arsed!

I bought my last bike (and also recently sold it through) J.T.Motorcycles in Bridgend (top side of Sony Ind' Estate). I've had numerous bits & pieces from them in the last couple of years and some work done, and they've always been on the ball. For parts see Jen in parts dept, there's not much she dosen't know about bike spares.

Went to Beresford Lane this afternoon and as you said, Gareth was very helpful but didn't have what I wanted.

SPA mirrors, I'll take a look on the net for them or do you have a link for them?

Yeah, give me a price please - they would need to be convex to get rid of that bl***y blind spot.

Cheers

I had a look at some of the SPA carbon mirrors yesterday - bloody expensive!!!

I wouldn't say there's a big market for them in the Atom market but so many are looking for a solution to the blind spot problem.

Let me know what you can do.

Here's a pic showing the type of mirrors I need to replace.

Cheers

John

Don't be sorry Chris, it was just the excuse I needed to go for a drive through Cardiff City Centre

Plus, Gareth is a nice guy and the sort of guy I'd like to buy from because he's enthusiatic.

Cheers

John

Are they stock bike mirrors. If you can identify their source, this US company supplies glass to eliminate blind spots on motorbikes.

I've actually been in touch with them - thanks for the link. They want a pattern of the mirror and told me it would take about 6 months to produce

Some of the Atom owners already have a source for mirrors - I was just hoping to get hold of some locally so it's no bigee.

Thanks for all the help guys - keeps the forum lively too
