Well folks, was finally about to complete on the purchase of the house when a couple of hitches emerged; on their part an issue with a shared driveway, and on my part impending redundancy. Luckily someone tipped me the wink before I went through with the purchase anyway, so I had time to bail out as otherwise I could have been right up the proverbial creek..

On the positive side, looks like I have the summer to play around with cars and go flying, so I think I can see a positive side to this.. Does mean I'm not likely to be putting in an appearance for beer and curry for a little while although couple of interesting looking roles in the area so I might be back..

Bugger mate... apparantly 1 in 4 transactions dont go through, but nearly always for the better, somthing else will happen that makes you realise buying the place wasnt really a good idea. HIP's that are due to come in & speed up the process wont stop many purchases falling through but even if they did I believe you still need about 6 weeks from start to finish just to really make you mind up its the right thing to do.

Good luck mate...

Arse, bugger, feck indeed. With knobs on.

I feel for you mate; nearly went redundant just before BabyV6 mk1 arrived on the scene. Turned out allright in the end, though.

Not sure *exactly* what it is you do day-to-day, but there do seem to be some more interesting local positions coming through on jobserve recently.

Thanks guys.. I'm just glad I had a bit of a tip off that something was afoot; otherwise I'd not be in the best of positions now to say the least. New place was a stretch financially to say the least..

Jobs wise, I'm an occupational psychologist by training, but I've been working as a general management consultant for the last 5 or so years.. Plan was always to go back to my roots, just hadn't planned on it just yet.. Now seems like a good time

Managed to get one interview lined up before I've even left so I reckon I'll be ok. Can't work out if I am annoyed or relieved about the timing.. Hey ho, sh1t happens. At least I get the summer off the play with cars and go flying..

Shared drive access is a nightmare. Remember my father with his last house purchase getting it on the deeds so no-one could block you in etc. No one would pay for it to be added, it added weeks to the purchase.
Good luck with the job hunt.

It certainly slowed things up.. I'd probably not bother getting too interested in the future with a similar property truth be told..

How wide a drive do you need for a cardinal on a BMX?

Paragliders, mainly up in the peaks. Have dabbled with a few other forms of flight, but a paraglider will fit in the car and unlike hanggliders doesn't need half an hour of mechano at either end of the flight..

Well Mr Bert, I'm sorry to hear about your accomodation woes....if you are around this summer and need a passenger for an evenings run, don't forget I'm only 3 doors away literally (Flat 5!) and will certainly buy you a pint or two of a fruit based beverage somewhere if you fancy it.

Whats happened with your mirror? I asked Kev63 who I work with and he says they are like blooming gold dust. His Cerb needs one and it's off a Corrado so slightly traceable.

Oh well...taraa for now

Antony.
