A few of you PH's will remember me having to go to court to contest a traffic signal infringment and am please to say that i WON,

With the help of piston head members i managed to win the case.

i would like to thank justinp1 for giving me some awsome advice and can say that it was his angle i used in my case and i worked. i also used tactics from the driver survival handbook by martin twaite which helped also.

so again thank you all.

Well done mate!

Its a nerve-wracking experience but great when 'Joe Public' can stand up for their rights.

Am I right in thinking you went down the line of taking photos from the point of view of the witnesses to show that they could not see the lights as you saw them, and then backing this up by cross-examining the police to find that they did not know the correct light sequence and could not see the lights anyway?

justinp1- I did as you said took photos, did diagrams and showed how traffic flows through the roundabout at the time of the incident.

The best thing was that the judge actally knew the roundabout in question but still made the officers draw the area because they were confusing the hell out of him. they were both saying diffrent things and neither gave him a good enough picture of what happened.

I asked both officers the exact same question, When it was time for me to make my statement, i showed pictures and diagrams to show that the traffic signals were out of there line of sight and they could not have seen the stop line. I also went on to say that i, in no way wanted to discredit, seem disrespectful or point the finger at the officers in question just to say that they were mistaken.

After 3 trips to the court house and 8-9 hopurs in total, i came out scott free with out even paying a fine or having points on my licence.

I have to admit, my backend did fall out when i stood infront of the judge but i then got use to it.

Again thanks to Justinp1 and all the ph's for there input!

Thats alright mate! just use the knowledge to help another PHer in need!

You should have been able to claim costs as well. Petrol to and from court and time to prepare the case and come to court, up to £50 a day if you had time off work.
