Hi all,

For those of you that said you'd be interested in this on 2/7......
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=270901&f=168&h=0
.....I now have some more info.

As well as an opportunity to meet up and kick tyres we will also be able to help with some fund raising for charidy mate.

The rough plan at the moment (definite timings etc to be confirmed next week) are as follows:
12.15 Meet in Oakham at the Burghley Road car park. If you don't know where the car park is and are passing thru Uppingham (where I live) we can meet at my place and travel to Oakham together.
12.30 Collect some nominated people from their homes in Oakham, who have done good things in the community, then reconvene at the car park.
1.30 Take your car and your passenger through Oakham as part of the main parade (the parade may be a slow so suggest checking the coolant first if it's a hot day!)
2.15 Arrive back at the car park, natter, let people oggle at the cars, have walk through carnival stalls etc in park.
Tombola tickets will be sold through the afternoon, again for charidy, with the winners being taken for a blast by us, leaving the car park 4.00ish.
After that, drop the tombola winners off and go for a bit of a blast, possibly via a suitable pub, on the way home.

And if that wasn't enough you might get your picture in the local paper!!

If you do not want to get involved in taking anyone for a ride but just want to park up and have a wander round you can meet at the car park from 2.00 and head off home whenever you want to.

Hopefully we can get a good crowd of us there to add to the 4 or 5 other TVRS's from the East Mids TVRCC Region that will be attending.

Please stick your name on this thread if you can still make it - I need give the organisers a rough idea of how many of us there will be by mid next week. I'm away from tomorrow morning until Sunday but will answer any questions etc when I'm back.

Thanks in advance,
Longers
...and did I mention it was all for charidy?!

Should be there with TVR and may persuade wife to bring the Rover P5 if that will "fit in" with the spirit of the parade?

Great! All they are looking for are interesting cars, it doesn't have to be a TVR etc.

Having lived in Oakham and been to the shows previously I will miss this years events as I'm now in New Zealand. I would appreciate any photo's posted of the day to see what I missed.

Can I recommend the Voujon Balti Hut in the Market Square but top tip - get a loyalty card which is two meals for the price of one. (And call into County Squire on the mini roundabout corner and say hello to Richard from Mark & Amanda now in NZ.) And...have a great day

Oh, and try out the Grainstore pub, next to the railway station.

It looks like I may have the company of a young lady of my acquintance on the trip.

Now gentlemen please keep your tounges in at all times and no dribbling and fawning please, it looks so ungainly!

Said young lady is looking for a partner with suitable propulsion system, preferably of the TVR variety.

No Mark, she's a lot too young for you!

Edited to annoy Mark even further!

Thanks Mark, Tyre Tread (and any others that are thinking of coming along)

Are you ok to meet in Uppingham between 11.45 & 12.00 on Sunday? If I can't get along to the meet tomorrow night I'll email you my address cos it's easy to find just off of the Kettering - Oakham road.

Cheers,
Longers

Sure, no problem.

Mark - if you guys let me know when you're leaving Kettering I'll meet you somewhere depending on which way you're likely to be going (BP on the 6003? or if you want to blast up the B664 we could do the MH focus car park again).

They're better cos I've been shaving them down with the exhaust of my S since having the new suspension fitted!

Think if you drive a Cerbera you are a lot better off than with an S - seem to remember a while back following Longers and he struggled, but I sailed over OK. Still be careful though as those speed bumps are evil no matter car you are in.

No suspension not sorted yet - am in the process of moving house so not been a high priority I am afraid.

Thinking about it, is probably due to going over speed bumps too quickly why it broke !!

I understand from Mark that a few of you are thinking about coming along on Sunday which is great news

If you want to meet on the way in Uppingham please let me know here or me through my profile.

About 1/2 mile past the cross roads with the traffic lights and petrol station there is a long lay by on the right hand side opposite a row of 5 or 6 new houses, just before a pedestrian crossing, where you will find a turning for The Beeches on your right hand side. I'll be there at about 11.50 for a 12.00ish departure.

Are you still looking for cars to join you?
It's a really nice run from home (Earls Barton) to Oakham but only been recently in the family MPV!!!
Be a good excuse for a run out, meet and a chin wag.
Do I have to have a TVR?!!
Please let me have some details and meeting place if possible.
Thanks
