Just spent 20mins putting various registration numbers through the dvla site. Very interesting. There's compelling evidence from my vehicle history that modern cars are lasting longer.
My dad's 1975 Austin Princess for instance was scrapped after just 9 years (surprise surprise!). His 1976 Cortina estate & my 1978 Golf lasted 10 years apiece.
By contrast, my 1999 V70 2.5Tdi is approaching 15 years old & still going strong, and even the worst car I ever owned (2001 B6 Audi A4) is still around after 13 years. My 9 year old E46 320Ci feels like it'll be around for many years yet.

H150 AAV, a black Mini 1.3 John Cooper edition with signed stripes, read leather, minilite wheels etc. Not currently showing on the DVLA database, but on the off chance it still exists and hasn't been scrapped, has anyone seen it recently? It used to be Mum's pride and joy back in the day.... but you can't fit a pram in an original mini
Bump... anyone? Also, a few of Dads favourite cars:

I have had a fair few marina's!
Coupes, 4 door saloons, vans and pick ups.
All long gone apart from 1.
EXC 722L Morris marina coupe 1.3 super
In 1999 I bought the coupe from the breakers, apparently it was stored in a garage for about 15 years then it ended up at the breakers.
The engine was seized. It only done 27,000 miles. So I stripped the engine and fitted with all new parts.
Ran very sweetly! Overhauled the drum brakes.
Had it moted still on its original cross ply tyres!
I stupidity sold it in 2002 too cheap.
It's STILL on the road taxed and tested till next year.

Tax expired at the end of Dec 2003 and DVLA have no MOT records, so it sounds like it's long gone.
Ok but many thanks anyway. He had another 2 after that one, K667 PTR (730i) and R266 EOS (740i). If you don't mind looking again I would love to find at least one of them?!
Thanks a lot.
