This is probably my first post in this computer games forum.
Bought the game a while ago, was salivating over the CSL , but it didn't run on my desktop so I invested in a high end lap top and it runs well.
What can I say? Very impressed with the graphics and the way my steering wheel feeds back. Nice the way you can tell the Mini is front wheel drive not only by its cornering behaviour but also the way you can FEEL the torque steer. (I'm using a Thrustmaster steering wheel and pedals, don't know if it's any good but seems to do the business).
I like the engine noises. Are the engine noises simulated or samplings from real cars?
I have to thank Uncle dave here, as I downloaded his little mod so I could sample the delights of all the cars
I wonder how in depth the physics modeling is: I know for a fact that BMWs from the E24, E21 and E12s onwards use almost racing levels of castor as standard. They have for a long time. I'm not entirely sure if they did this on the E9/CSL but when you're able to alter the castor it does seem low in it's original position for a Bimmer. That got me questioning how accurately do the models try to mimmick real cars?
Ever the engineer, I would love to some day do a working model of my E21, with it's 2.8 litre schrick cammed engine. Someone in Poland has already done a 3 D model of this and I imagine it's physics would be a cross between a Mk 2 Escort and a CSL.
I haven't played online yet, and probably won't until I'm a little better ( I keep flying off the track!).
Any tips or suggestions or experiences of this game? (Yes I've gone through most of the comments after doing a search on the game on this forum)

So I am biting the bullet and trying to purchase a copy off of eBay,
One question, I have a PS2 forcefeedback Logitech wheel that connects fine to my pc via USB and worked ok for the GTR demo i downloaded
BUT
there was no forcefeedback. Is there a way of getting it to work, is htere some form of patch. I hope so as FFB is pretty much essential from what I heard and do not want to buy another one.
Looking forward to getting it though. When I do be prepared for inane and stupid questions where the answers should be obvious to anyone with a brain.

Thanks guys for all the tips.
I can now drive around the NurbGP track and Donnington national without sliding off in a CSL.
Unfortunately my "Thrustmaster" steering wheel is Ge-shagged. The brakes are always on!
After trying to dismantle the pedals to try it remedy the situation, If it doesn't help- I may go out and plump for the Logitech wheel you all talk of, unless there are any better reccommendations?

Nah
That's the one to go for then?
Anyone else?
Man- I m addicted to the game, I have to get one of these wheels before the weekend. I hope they're sold in Germany!
Yep Logitech Driving Force Pro is the one to go for I think..
Or a Logitech Momo... I think mine is great but others have had problems with the pedals which I haven't heard much about on the Driving Force Pro.
If you're prepared to do some messing with the pedals if they go wrong, then you're OK.. I've carried out a few 'mods' to mine

F10 I think.. It's between F10 and F12 anyway
That will stick them in your GTL directory and give a Screen Saved message at the top so you'll know when you get it.
Or you can use something like this:

Yes, get Logitech. I've a Driving Force Pro that I bought for GT4. I used it on GTL for at least a week before working out (with a little help) that you're meant to download the driver for PC use.
Once that's done it's a laugh and a half

Hi, Ive found several of these DFP wheels that don't say they're for the PC, however after reading these threads, as I understand it, you need to download some sort of "wingman" driver and it'll work on the PC.
I tried the links on several other posts and they seem to be defunkt now, anyone know where I can get this fabled wingman driver?
My Thrustmaster is driving me crazy, the brake pedal keeps "de-calibrating" and there's no facility to recalibrate it. My CSL power was fighting brakes which were permanently on! I've taken the pedal box apart twice to move the cog a few teeth and this seems to solve the problem temporarily
Cheers in advance guys
Here you go
www.wingmanteam.com/
The wheels are PS2 marketed only, but just happen to work on PC with these drivers *shrugs*
Dave.

Bah, switch traction control and ABS on and have a blast with the keyboard
Get used to the tracks
If you didn't already know there is a massive GTL based forum here:
http://forum.rscnet.org/forumdisplay.
Plenty of addon tracks etc, have a look round.. And I highly recommend you download Nurburgring Nordschleife (The Mother)

Thanks alot Uncle Dave et al. Got the wheel this morning, works really well and importantly, FEELS alot more robust than my previous wheel. Now, for the moment I can't achieve the laps times I was before as I get used to the new wheel, its funny how a little thing like that effects it all. The wheel is impressive though as is the game: After owning a few wide tyred cars in the real world, I used to be suprised just how easily these things followed road camber especially during breaking, I think it's other wise known as tramlining- well I'msuprised to see this game does a similar thing with some of the bigger cars! (I'm sure you can tune the feedback levels down etc etc).
My next problem is NOW this game has inspired me to REALLY want to buy a real old CSL BMW. There's a RHD one for sale here in Germany almost completely restored, good restrored body, but needs a new lick of paint to complete. Yours for only 10,000 euros! What shall I do
