Well, I can't say that I would recommend them......

Viewed and test drove one of their cars, made an offer, failed to receive promised reply, then told next day that car had been sold to someone else....

So you make an offer (presumably less than the sticker price). Leave the premises having been told they'll get back to you, meanwhile someone else has come along, offered more and got the car. Can't see what they've done wrong, your offer wasn't acceptable to them they had no need to come back to you as the car was gone.

If that had been the case, maybe....however, I had been in regular contact with them prior to viewing/test driving. I had no more time to spare so said I would get back to my office and then contact them. Duly did that, had 2 more emails to and fro. Salesman said make me the best offer and I will come back to you, so I did. Heard nothing....until next morning when he said that car had been sold by someone else while he was out delivering....and apologising....so he obviously thought he hadn't delivered very good service....even if you don't!!!

At the end of the day I would agree that it was theirs to sell and they got a sale....however I would have at least expected to be given the chance to improve my offer/purchase having made the effort to go and see them....wouldn't you??

It's upto the vendor how and when they agree a deal, but look at it if you had been the other purchaser. Imagine you'd made an acceptable offer but rather than shake on it the vendor mucks around trying to get another customer who'd previously offered less than you into an auction situation. You'd rightly be annoyed.

You're miffed you didn't get the car. I'm sorry you didn't get it. But at the end of the day this outfit let you have a test drive etc (when some don't), you made your best offer, but someone else made an acceptable offer before you did. This happens everyday of the week.

OK, I guess we'll agree to differ....However, if I was the other party, I would have entirely accepted them saying "thanks for your offer, someone else has tested the car today, if they're not interested then its yours...." and they give me a ring and say do you want it or not?

Is that really too much to ask?

Yes it is.

If you don't make an acceptable offer when given the opportunity to then it's tough if someone else comes along and buys it.
