Dare G4 starter

The starter is shot (at 4500 miles) and my mechanic got a current starter for a 2.0 Zetec--doesn't work!

What is the starter that does work?

Dare G4s don't all use the same starter - it depends on the type of bellhousing fitted. Your best plan is either to contact Dare, who can probably supply one, or take your current one off and match it up at a motor factor. Make sure the throw is correct - I was recently supplied with one which didn't have quite enough throw and frequently failed to engage. I find the geared starters best - they give a higher cranking speed which is much better in cold or damp conditions.
