Last year I acquired an unused reconditioned gearbox (without gear-lever).I have installed it in my 1971 Vixen but when I went to put the gear-lever in off my old box I discovered that the nylon threaded boss which holds the lever into the extension housing is about 2mm too wide.
I understand their were a variety of these made in different sizes but, despite, many, many calls I just have not been able to source a smaller one.

Anyone any ideas ??

Thanks,

Try these. have got some rare spares from them in the past.

Your other option is to get yourself to your local scrappy. you will find that a Mk 3/4/5 cortina 1600 / 2000 is the same box which also has the screw in gear lever.

You prob have this box rather than an escort one.

Thanks, HS. Tried both of those companies without success. Gearbox I have installed is an unused reconditioned one so, unless all fails, I woud prefer to try to keep that rather than buying another (possibly worn) one. The search must continue.....

Well, 40-odd phone calls later I have finally sourced a gear-lever with the smaller threaded boss from BGH Geartech !! Thanks for the tip, Adrian.
