Hi I am still having trouble driving smoothly in my boxster s, between 2 and 3000 rpm the car surges a little and on tickover it is about 650 rpm.Is this too low, my independant (loe Bank motors) said this could be either the air bag sensor or the coils. Its going in tomorrow but how would the airbag affect this and what are coils? Are they the tube that changes the voltage in old cars,or am i talking bollox?

Air Flow Meter = Monitoring device that records the amount of air entering the engine - can get worn/damaged. (nowt to do with the Air Bag ...)

Coils - yes there are 6, one per cylinder, they are in a naff place next to the exhaust and crack after time, replace all six.

If your car is under OPC warranty then these items are covered.

MAF. Warranty or £150 + VAT from Euro carparts. Try cleaning it first with some carb cleaner.

The car went in today , and it was the air mass sensor. It cost £150.00 for parts and 1 hours labour so £212.00 in total. It is sweet as a nut now ,i was also shown how the diagostic computer is used.Chris at loe bank could tell me how many times my alarm had gone off and why, also he could shut down each cylinder on his keyboard which made the boxster sound like my old aircooled 911!Impressive stuff!!Thanks for your help lads
