Porsche Festival 2006
Discussion
Hi,
A friend and myself are thinking of going along this year. The pictures on the website (from 2005) show a race track, but the location is said to be Eynsham Hall which doesn't seem to gel Was it held at a different location last year? Brands hatch maybe? did it coincide with the a round of the Porsche cup or something or have I got it totally wrong
I'd much rather see some cars going round a track as opposed to parked up in a field. Can anyone tell me what the format of this day is like?
Thanks

apparently the day starts with a beard pruning "help shop" at 9:15 with guest speaker Gladis Pershore and then at 10:00 there is a speech by the greatly beloved Walter Thomas (of thomas leather care fame) on how to maintain a lifelong shine to your jesus sandals.
then there will be a minutes silence for the 993 owners, basically this is like praying to mecca in porsche land and anyone who makes any noise at all will get a good looking down the nose at.

Hi
The 2005 event(Brands Hatch) was very good with a great deal of racing to be seen.
This year does seem to be in a field ! :

Should still be worth checking out though.
Cheers
Well I for one am thoroughly looking forward to it......on the grounds that '07 will be at a race track...please???
After two years of high octane, financial risk and overstretching the management team, Eynsham was the only option.....
If you could have seen the effort that went into Brands behind the scenes, I think you would understand why this year it's in a field around a stately home.
Brands was a great event though -can't think of anywhere else where I could drive the Cup Car sans helmet and windows open to the tune of David Piper's 917 alongside......heaven....

Gary, get involved and help change things mate!
I know the Porsche Club has got a reputation for beards, but it's worth going just for the metal.

It's only as good as you put into it.
And I haven't got a beard......at the moment.....come to think of it, I can only think of one Board member with a beard.....

A tad unfair to people like Merkin Melv, but still ROTFLMAO!
I've attended the festival each year since 1999, always a fun day out. Brands was great, as was Highclere and Bramham park etc.
Its a Porsche fun day out with a lot of the help organising coming from volunteers and like minded enthusiasts. Probably not one so much for the "I'm here now entertain me" crowd; more about what it means to belong to a club. Having said that, its generally run to a high standard, great concours, trade village, sometimes has a car auction, with either racing (brands) or nice grounds, things for the kids to do etc.
Looking forward to it again.
Yours (with a beard!)
Ajit.

I thought the beards made these events, on the basis that most people go along to see the older cars and heritage that Porsche currently trades off...
If you were only interested in seeing the newer cars it is a waste of time, when you only have to go to your OPC or any supermarket car park to get your fill.
