do you just want us to say 996 GT2?

just wondering as you deleted the other post shortly after "others" pointed out the 996 GT2 has carpets.

just an observation.

Actually YES...

but the reason is I want to buy a challenging 911 and I am not sure to buy which one yet. Any advice?

Air cooled, swap the rear wheels for space saver spares, and put loads of positive camber on the front wheels. And drive it in the rain.

If challenging is your only criteria, try a 930..

Not sure it's fast, but definitely challenging

Any 911 with slicks at 100psi. Again, wet weather only and remove the windscreen wipers.

964RSR.

Paul McLean has one in, I think, at www.gtclassics.co.uk

Otherwise 993 GT2 tuned to Feanspec 500+ bhp.

It's too friendly to be 'the most challenging'.

The turbos have 'interesting' power delivery in the early cars and ludicrous wheel spinning capabilities when modified in the later ones... making them a challenge.

The GT3 and 993RS are challenging compared to the vanilla variants, but quite user friendly on many levels. A 964RS, launching itself off a cats eye at speed, or snapping on you in the wet, is more of a thing to master... I tried, I failed... I shall return (badgers beware!)

Out of your list, either GT2 probably fits the bill best as they pile on a lot of speed quickly, little driver aids and 2WD only. The 993GT2 will be a tad more challenging to drive, perhaps just because of pedal layout etc. So maybe that's the ultimate of your list.

PS 964 at Gt Classics was a 964 Cup wide body; close but not the real thing. So this is more stripped out and less streetable. Still a big challenge tho'... and at 42k a bit of a bargain. Mummy, I want one NOW!!!!

I have never driven a 911 but have been told by an owner that the 930 Turbo 3.3 was 'Death On Wheels'

And the 996 GT2 is a "widow maker"

It's not the car, it's the driver that is "death on wheels".

Having owned a 930 for four years, and now having it at 500bhp and 615nm (ninemeister) it's an understatement calling it challenging, it simply doesn't get driven in the wet, what a toy though!! BTW, I have a friend with a 996 GT2 who won't even sit in it let alone drive it! (pussy)

The most challenging 911 is the one you can't afford.
