new guy wanting advise
Discussion
Hi guys and girls,
After much deliberation I have decided to go for a boxster over my original choice of corvette c5.
Am, looking at my first one tonight. its a 2.7 with air con.
Just after a bit of advice really is there any thing I need to look out for?
What is the lux pack and is it worth finding one with it?
and any particular years / models I should avoid?
Is it worth the extra cost for a 2.7 over the 2.5?
many thanks

yes, get the 2.7 over a 2.5 if budget allows
Lux pack was a bundle of options - aircon / extra leather / trip computer and a few bits I think
All desirable options but these packs were not available on later cars (in fact thought it was just the 2.5 that offered it and the sports pack but maybe earlier 2.7s too)

Stretch the budget & get an "S" it really is worth the extra cash!
I agree. If you can streatch to a 3.2 then go for it. However, I ran a 2.7 Boxster for three years as a company car and 75,000 miles.
IMHO the options to look out for are minimum 17 inch alloys (standard on 3.2)wind deflector, decent sound system. Mine had the uprated Porsche amp but the sound still seemed to come from the front as the speakers are positioned in the doors and dash. The Bose option has a woofer positioned behind the seats below the wind deflector and certainly adds to the sound.
Stay well clear of the "leatherette" seats and it must have air con. No you wont use it a great deal but the dash looks horrid without it and come re-sale time you will be considered a lepper for having the cheek to place such a vehicle on the open market without air.
