Need a driveshaft for a 86 911 Carrera 2, are Porsche dealers the only option? I have tried GSF and a few others places. But no Joy

Cheers

Do you mean an 86 911 Carrera or an 89 911 Carrera 2?

They didn't make a Carrera 2 before 89.

In the Log book its got 86 as it reg date, it has a G50 Box and is a 3.2, Badge on back says Carrera 2.

Its not mine I am helping a mate out, wanted a service and I noticed the shaft CV has been running dry for some time. Maybee hes been tinkering with the badge??

It sounds like just a G50 3.2 Carrera. Breakers are probably the best bet.

Try www.douglasvalley.co.uk and then www.porschapart.com.

Doubt something that specialist would be on ebay or at factor parts places, so after that it's time to try Porsche themselves.

The factors offered a recon service on the shaft but after sending it off took a week to decide they can't do it, despite me confirming they could, I will give ones you list a try.

Thanks

Could be worth asking in the Ultima forum. A lot of them use G50 gearboxes and may have a solution.

The Ultima driveshafts are bespoke to the Ultima, wider track etc.

To be honest, recon or new may make the most sense as you don't know how second hand ones have been abused... standing starts anyone?
