Lucky me. I spent this morning thrashing (for me) a 997 TT manual in Cobalt Blue around Milbrook proving ground. A LOT of fun.

I had breakfast with Richard - a 'professional driving consultant' - followed by a chance to put the 997 TT on the roads before arriving at Milbrook. I did a few good challenging laps around the 'hilly bits', a few laps of the oval at about 140 followed by a standing mile (which has to terminate at 0) when I reached about 165. There was some skid training thrown in - and Richard showed me how a few laps 'should be done'.

The cars handling is stunning. It's acceleration is awesome. It's brakes are even more awesome. I loved it. I have never been in anything even close to it.

Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to drive a Tiptronic for a comparison.

I did the same session last week (thursday) - couldn't top 165 tho on the mile drag - that was in the tip wih Sport ON. 162 in the manual. We didn't do the skid training just lots of laps of the hilly circuit. I wasn't taken on a superfast lap by the instructor - I don't think I needed any encouragement to peddle it around!
A good session but not £550.00 worth. I know I paid for it indirectly - or at least the interest on my deposit has, but I'd be upset if I had to write a cheque out there and then for that amount.

Been invited to this as well as deposit holder on a TT. Interestingly tho' I managed 175mph in the lambo egear about 168 in the manual with rolling start to avoid clutch fry out. Did the C4S as well and was being pulled onto the brakes at 140! had a nervy aged instructor.

I am trying to decide on the two and will do the turbo experience but seems G may be quicker after all despite better early traction to the pig with double kettles. Will tell you what I get up to on my run come my time. I am getting to know millbrook as you may imagine then decision time!

I did suffer mild concusion after The Gallardo runs and had to stand outside the Lambo tent for some fresh air specially after the mountain runs. Limited sympathy I expect the old brains do get mashed, anyone else find this?

My 165 was also from a rolling start in second (the Millbrook cars have to be resold as 'demonstrators' through the OPC network!), my gear changes were not that slick and there was plenty of room at the end - in other words 165 mph was effortless. I would be interested to know what I could have achieved in a Tiptronic (ie. that does all the hard stuff for me!).

Try out the TT - it's an awesome piece of kit.
