Replacement Battery
Discussion
Went on holiday for 2 weeks, left Monaro at home. Went to start her up upon return, battery dead flat. Got an optermiser charger on but I think the battery is a gonner. Model is a 2004 CV8, does anyone know what to ask for as a replacement? Spoke to Jeff at Greens & he advised that there is no official part number, so other than establishing the dimns etc., no information to go on. Any assistance would be appreciated.
PS. Hi to the chap in the Silver Monaro in Slough.

been a few of these reported as I recall some months back. Have you tried doing a search on here? And I imagine it may be covered by 3 year warranty but I'm sure someone will clear that up for you that knows better. I noticed my green battery light was out couple of weeks back but a trip to Newcastle and back sorted that. I was surprised to see it so low because although I dont use the car everyday most of its use is in trips of several hundred miles on clear roads at the weekends so it should be charging fully I'd have thought?

Paul H had his replaced under warranty I believe.
Certainly did...dealer will do it for you...took about 10 mins for mine & the best bit...FOC!!! A bit odd...the battery's in with the warranty but wipers aren't???
Edited to say...left mine in my garage for 7 weeks...green indicator was a bit faint but a trip to Chester for milk sorted it out!!!

Well I'm due at Greens in a week or so for the Front Seat Spring fix, so I'll see if they can change it. I spoke to Jeff (their service manager) & he said that there isn't a part number for th 04 Monaro battery.
Paul, did you get an 'AC Delco' battery or a 'Go' version, and when was this?

An AC Delco one was fitted - can't remember the exact date but around 12th May at Slaters in Colwyn Bay. However I now have a trickle charger from Halfords that can - or so the instructions tell me - be left on for long periods eg 10-12 weeks as long as you keep checking it's OK. It's a specialised one for long term storage of cars. Allegedly!!! I'll find out in 12 weeks when I'm next home!
Jeff at Greens reckons if it's a warranty replacement, they have to charge it for 48 hrs to establish that is it indeed knackered before replacing. He did suggest that I go on a long drive with the side-lights on, as this the cause the alternator to boost charge.
Oh well, I s'pose there's worse reasons for going for a drive on a nice summer evening.
Will advise results. In the meantime, I'll contct Slaters to asceratin what the replacemnt battery is & where to source (in case I need to).

Slaters never even gave it a second thought never mind charging it for 48 hrs, they just replaced it there & then!! Slaters phone (cos there's two Slaters in Colwyn Bay, lucky up this neck of the woods, aren't we?) :- 01492-523100 & ask for Cat (before the jokes start, it's short for Catherine, I think!)in service!
