when you get a new passenger in the elise, why do they keep slamming the door behind them? Its getting so annoying i have to tell them not to everytime someone gets in. Why does everyone assume such a dinky light little car needs a whopping great slam? Or is it just me?

They must all own Polo's. When you make cars out of Morrocan railway line this is a must.

I get exactly the same in the Cerbie, so I fully sympathise with you.

Use to get it with the Elan as well. One chap always slammed the door evrytime I gave him a lift. Eventually I pointed out that if he broke the window he would be paying.

I found the best solution was to say:

"Don't worry about the door, I can always rehang it later"

That ussually embarasses them enough to think about it.

Have you ever found [Not in a roadster] that some people find it neccesary to hold on to the roof and swing in like an ape rather than use the handle and slide in. I had to say Ill repair the scratches from your rings and nails later mate and polish out the fingermarks which are very noticeable- that stopped it!

I have this problem too, a friend said to me...

"People who don't drive slam doors"

...so now I at least only have to warn half my passengers (joy riders).

's not just you, and not just new pax's, my gf has a habit of slamming the door off it's hinges when she leaves the car and it irritates me no end.

A guaranteed way of starting a bit of animated discussion followed by a load of sulking it to dare to comment on the fact that the doors are only made of fibreglass and not armour . . .

:sigh:
