Is the Porsche factory in the middle of the city? And on the way back i noticed the Nurbergring is on the way can i just turn up and have a go and is the town a good place to stay over? Thanks this is a treat from my girlfriend for my 40 birthday and i just want a couple of things to do while we are there. Thanks

Rotterdam - Stuttgart in five hours only works on a sunday morning. Friday afternoon eg, has much more congestion on the road.

The Porsche factory and the museum are in Zuffenhausen, a northern quarter of greater Stuttgart.

When you want to drive the Nordschleife, you need to go on a day (and time) when there are Touristenfahrten announced. You can check them here. There are lots of Fremdenzimmer (B+B) around the Ring and in the Eifel; but they are mostly basic. There are lots of hotels too, one being the Dorint directly at the GP circuit for example. Watch out if there are arrangements at the 'ring taking place - you'd need to book your room early then.

Porsche factory is on the north side of town. Currently they're building a new museum, which I believe won't open until '07. The present P Museum contains some fine icons, but it is small.
If you're going to be in Stuttgart, have a look at the new M-B museum too. It's just opened and contains quite a lot of motoring history. It's on the east side of town, a few miles from P.

I wouldn't know how long it would take to get from R'dam to the German border. Once in Germany, you could definitely get down to Stuttgart within 3 1/2 hours (maybe less) if you were travelling at night or early on a Sunday morning.
Because your route would go past a number of conurbations, however, at other times it could take you 6 hours.

I visited the Porsche museum in Zuffenhausen late last year but was very disappointed, too small and not much to see, but a much larger one is being built right across the road, which as Flemke says should be open in around 12 months or so........

The new MB museum is superb btw, visited it last week......

5am Rotterdam would be better imho. Can you have an earlier passing? My favourite Autobahn hooning time is sunday 0500am to 1000am: late enough to have sunlight, early enough to avoid holiday drivers; plus the bakery still stocks the good stuff at 1015am.
There are nearly no HGV on the Autobahn on sundays, and you can meet lots of fellow hooners in the morning hours when the weather is dry
