For the Britballrun this year I'm doing the Esprit up as a New York yellow cab, its bright yellow so pretty easy to do. I've got the taxi sign to go on top, got the black & white checks for the side & a load of other stickies to go all over it.

However some poor lass in Bristol was raped the other week by a guy posing as a taxi driver, is there any law that states you cant have a taxi sign on top the car without actually being a taxi? Maybe an offence is only committed if you pick up a fare paying passenger, which of course we wont be?

We are doing it anyway to be fair but just wondered how it stands if i get (or when i get) pulled by BIB..

You could always get a small "not a..." sticker to go just above the TAXI sign?

Cannot think off hand of any offence of impersonating a Taxi. Trouble comes in when you pick up fare or tout unlicensed....

Ohh just thought do not put any information in respect of a Licensed Taxi Cab PLATE or that it is so on the vehicle. Could be trouble (without looking it up) Blob on roof with word Taxi no problem but if illuminated make sure does not offend lighting laws.

If anyone is around Bristol on wednesday the 23rd the car with us in convict suits will be in the Galleries shopping mall in broadmead Bristol, grabbing change off unsuspecting passers by for charity, i'll post some pics the day after..

Pop down even if its just to see my lass in a stripey short (very short) dress & knee high boots..

Maybe i should have put more thought into this, ive already had the sign & stickers made so i guess it will have to be TAXI... looking forward to abusing those clear inner city bus lanes & parking in a taxi rank to pop into a shop etc...

Splodge,

It sounds like fun - I look forward to seeing the pics.

But as for 'impersonating' a taxi - would anyone genuinely believe that an Esprit is a taxi?

Mind you - I guess you'd do an absolutely roaring trade if it were a real taxi

Good luck again.
