Will,

Just been reading through the spec of your HSV, sure sounds like a monster you created there!

0-100 in 8.07 seconds? Not many could beat that, I'll assume that this was a recorded time.

£50k+ sounds a hell of a lot though, ok you have done a lot and I am not doubting you have spent that much but was wondering how much you think it would cost today for a similar spec. Prices for most components seem a lot cheaper now than they did when you started in 2003.

Congrats on creating the beast, can't wait to see it at Silverstone.

Oh God yes, much, much cheaper nowadays, brakes were £7.5k, blower £10k, cam £3k, so if I went for LSV small blower & AP stoppers & forget the cam change that would have saved £15k, paid £10 on ICE, no doubt could save £7k by todays prices....

With hindsight I could have saved half the additional expenditure at least, if I put a budget togther now for 525 bhp car with ICE it would be about £10k for brakes, suspension, blower & ICE!

However no point in crying over it, I have had my fun ahead of most over here, car still has my attention with 570 brake, will like it a bit no more doubt when I increase the power past 600 & close to 700 brake as its ready for different pulleys and 15 p.s.i.

NB forget to 0-100 time as it was not verfied

Slightly O/T but having been fortunate enough to live in Australia and attend a few car shows out there, I have to say that 600-700bhp is entirely reasonable

A late 1980s HSV Commodore - I think it was a Brock limited edition car - was running around 800bhp on the dyno at a Sydney car show. There were stands full of 500bhp + Commodores and Monaros. The heftiest Monaro on the dyno hit something like 780bhp IIRC. The daftest car I saw was a Holden Torana with a mind-blowing 1179bhp . The owner said he could hardly drive the thing on the road and it drank petrol like an alcoholic in Wetherspoons.

It will be very interesting to follow your power hike and hopefully 700bhp can be achieved.

7/8/900+ bhp is perfectly achievable.

And with a centrifugal blower, surprisingly tractable and useable ( well, up to a point )
Obviously it needs treated with respect, but for normal driving, it can be as docile as a standard car.
