It's not for me actually, a friend has a few hundred grand buring a hole in his back pocket and fancies one. Dealers are talking 117k which I thought was a bit steep. He's getting the times on sunday.

Thanks Daz.

Have a look www.autotrader.co.uk/TOPMARQUES/. There is a black one (private sale) 750 miles £115k...but I would expect they would take an offer.

Please don't let him pay a silly premium. It only encourages these speculators and he really will lose a packet when values fall.

Best to find a private seller who just wants a small margin.

I actually thought their cars were now coming through as C16's. Certainly that was intimated to me when I last investigated.

C16 might be UK spec, but it isn't a UK car.

Whilst Porsche GB will honour the worldwide warranty, don't expect them to be interested in any 'sale of goods' issues or 'goodwill gestures' if problems arise.

I'd want a discount on an unofficial import.

C16 is a UK car. It's built for use in the UK to all UK specification and comes from the same factory as the cars in the dealer showrooms. It's worth exactly the same as one from an OPC.

Apparently, Porsche GB quite like a few parallel imports as it helps them get around block exemption issues. At least thats what the head of sales at Porsche GB said when we were moaning about too many 996 RSs killing residuals!

You haven't understood what I said.

The car may be virtually identical, and Porsche GB will honour the worldwide warranty, but should problems arise relating to certain consumer issues these need to be addressed through the supply channels. You have no right of redress through a UK OPC or Porsche Cars GB as they neither supplied or sold the vehicle, it came through the back door. This can also apply later in the car's life if out of warranty issues arise - there may not be the same level of 'sympathetic' warranty support or goodwill. Of course, under certain finance arrangements, there is a degree of protection against 'unmerchantable quality' or 'fit for purpose' claims for example, under the Consumer Credit Act. However, an unofficial import should still be worth less than an official import even though they might both be C16.

sorry, you're totally wrong.

1) the cars are not "virtually" identical, they ARE identical and all cars will be issued with a CoC (Certficate of Conformity)
2) UK OPC's are obliged to provide the IDENTICAL service for a car purchased within the European Union
3) The cars are NOT coming throgh the back door. It's calle the free movement of goods within Europe

Remember, that if there is any redress regarding any mechanical failures, the UK OPC is refunded by Porsche GB and ultimately Porsche GmBH, Germany. It doesn't cost them a penny.

Well I'm not wrong, but it is your prerogative to disagree. However, I still think you have missed the point I was making.

If I was to buy an 'unofficial' import, new or used, I would expect to pay less than I would for an 'official' import supplied through Porsche Cars GB and a UK OPC.
