How about 65 mph, no hands on the wheel, eating an apple, about 1m from my back bumper....

I had undertaken a line of cars hogging the overtaking lane, me doing 68mph, them doing 65mph-ish. Can't stand it when 90% of the traffic is in the outside lane of a D/Carriageway, waste of space and lazy motorway manners.

Audi-man didn't like my pull-back-into-overtakign-lane manouver, possibly because it was interupting the apple he was eating, so he screams up behind me to about 1 metre, takes both hands of the wheel, apple in mouth, and claps sarcastically for about 10 secs.

Now I wasn't strictly perfect, but at least I wasn't ludicrously dangerous.

If I'd done either the above there would have been a crash, with injuries; and whilst I might smirk afterwards the smirk would wear off when his insurance company tries to pin it on me.

About 10 months ago on the very same dual carriageway, I was in the overtaking lane doing 70ish coming up to a 'joining' sliproad. There was a little race going on up the sliproad I noted with two cars very close. The second car got the better of the first and went directly from the sliproad into the overtaking lane, at about 50mph.

I slowed right down to accomodate this idiot and flashed my lights.

What he did next scared me out of my skin. In defiance to my flashed lights, he braked hard in the overtaking lane, in front of me, down to about 30mph. My ABS saved me and him. Unbelievable.

Passing VW on dualcarriage. Its was travelling in in what can only be discribed as a wiggly line. So I took great care while passing.

Had a look at the driver, to see what sort of idiot was in control.

Saw a lady at the wheel, 2 kids loose in back seat (no belts etc) she was facing backwards looking at them whilst in process of talking to them (or telling them off).

In the time it took me to pass, and looking in my rear view after passing, she did not look forward. Perhaps 15 seconds if not slightly more.

OK it was a straight road, but loose kids, driving at about 50mph whilst looking backwards. She must have been a stunt driver or ........... (fill in blank as you wish)

Perhaps she was texting her mates to tell them she was being stared at by some guy in the slowest sports car she had ever seen?

Couple of weekends ago, when Leeds UTD were playing Cardiff at Elland Road, I was trundling along the M62 when we rolled into mild traffic. We pulled alongside an Escort and my passengers began laughing out loud. I looked across to see the driver of the Escort and his passenger each with a can of Carling in hand!
