flamin stupid system never alerted me I'd been outbid on the HSV engine covers from LSV - so signed in this morning expecting to be paying for them only to find some other lucky so and so had won them after me being the only bidder for the last 9 days.

Serves me right mind you for not putting in higher max bid to start with - caught out because no one else had bid against me. That'll teach me to sit drinking beer on a Friday night when there are auctions to be won!!!

its often not worth bidding until the last 5 minutes.

often the sellers themselves try to bump up the pricing to avoid selling at a loss and to try to see how high you have bid to....

Presumably we all have broadband? I personally never bid until the last 20 to 30 seconds and bid the absolute maximum I am willing to pay. If I get it cheaper then great but it also means there is no time to bid again and pay more than I wanted to. If I lose the auction, so be it. The system has been great to me so far, not many lost auctions and lots of money made in resale of some items.

I agree i never bid until the last 30 sec or so otherwise you are just pushing the price up yourself.
