Are there any recent, and decent, PC racing games? Have NFS Shift 2, and the handling was poor, and way too easy. Well, it was if you didn't get rammed by the AI. Is there anything like GTR/GTR2? I see GTR 3 is a WIP. I suppose that answers my own question

Might be a conversion of the GTR/GTR2 track that is a conversion of the original but cut down GP Legends track that fits within the old track length limits of GPL which is around 14-16 miles max length.

On the Sparco stand at the Autosport show this year was a driving simulator with three screens, and some ARC carbon fibre pedals and a wheel. They were running a car around Donington, and I have to say it was one of the best simulator experiences I've ever had.
If anybody else tried it or saw it, do you know if that was rFactor?

All the simulators I saw around the show were based on Rfactor.

I've just bought GTR2 and I can't get it to run after installing. Any ideas? I'm running windows 8 if that helps.

I don't quite understand that. What's the location of Steam got to do with it?

Don't know, perhaps it's part of the user access control that came in with Windows 7, the thing that always pops up asking you for permission to install anything and often in multi-installs it won't install everything properly. Maybe it's something like that with the default Program Files folder?
I turned UAC off on my Win7 so have never had any problems.

I dont know. I've tried moving GTR2 into the different program folders but it still wont start up. I'm useless with things like this and the main reason I've been gaming on consoles for years. My initial foray back to pc games has not been good so far.
