997GT3 spot in London
Discussion
Just followed a 997GT3 along Edgware Road onto the A40 (had to turn off but it carried on towards the North Circular) - this morning about 10.30am.
Was a LHD with Swiss plates - Colour combo of red with black wheels - was dirty as hell and looked pretty tired already so guessing its an early Porsche demo car or some Swiss magazine car.
Was driven very sensibly (they actually looked lost..) but even through the dirt it looked stunning on the road and sounded LOUD. Red and black looked great on the car. Seemed very low compared to my 997 so good luck with those London speed bumps..!!
Anyone with one on order - congrats, that's a helluva good looking car (v. tempted..!!). When are the first UK cars to customers actually due?

Hi - are you sure it wasn't a 997 with the aerokit ? If it was - GREAT news. UK GT3 revised dates for 1st expected deliveries around Oct/Nov time...any pics ?
Saw it from a distance and initial thought was 997 with a bodykit. Have a 997 myself so caught up to get a look at what a bodykit would look like so very surprised when it was a GT3.
997 Aerokit cars are dead easy to spot as they still have the four pipe exhaust systems whereas a true GT3 has the twin centre system. Also this had the right wheels, full badging, etc etc so definitely a true GT3.
See lots of exotica on the Edgware Road (usually with Middle East plates) but this was Swiss plated. Two middle aged guys who could definitely pass for 'car journos'. Unfortunately no pics (no camera phone..!!).
Must be murder for those waiting for theirs...!! Lucky b@stards.. I want one now...
That's interesting.
The first batch of cars were pre-production press/launch models and the white rhd car wasn't even type approved.
I think the official build programme commences this month, following the initial delay, with rhd production commencing in October.
No doubt the motoring mags will be eager to do their first independent road tests, so these may initially feature lhd GT3s.
Also, there is a big Porsche Club/Coys Event in Oxfordshire this weekend. Porsche Cars GB will no doubt be keen to have a 997 GT3 on display. When the GT3 Mk1 was first launched they bought an early, Forest Green, German car to Highclere. Bit odd to be on Swiss plates though. Sure it wasn't German transit plates?
