Just downloaded the file from the ECU. Er mind-blowing. Has anyone else got this package? Being a typical bloke (y'know - manuals are for poofs), I am totally lost.

Well not totally, and I did read enought to complete the register/connect/software/laptop/car bit. But there is a lifetimes work in there, and I was gonna retire is 25 years.

I went on a long run to Dudley (from Slough) yesterday with the 'Black Box' connected. When I got home, I realised one has to press a button to start recording data. Oh well.

Yeah a few sponsors use it. I think Pomona used to, Stevieturbo too, plus some others and me.
Have a look at www.holdencrazy.com you can DL a 285KW HSV tune, which can make an excellent baseline tune and instant power upgrade. Pretty much on a par with workshop tunes. Just make sure you copy over your VIN and final drive ratio. Oh assuming you have the same PCM OS, which you should have. (Unless you have the commercial version in which case you can also change the OS)
I have a 12V inverter to use my laptop in the car, means I can keep an eye on stuff and reflash when I feel like it. I got the RoadRunner PCM so I can actually change tables while driving. Though its best suited for the dyno.
Let me know if you have any questions etc I can probably help you out.
You can even go mafless pretty easily with the 300KW GTS tune. Though you might want the VE and spark tables from the R8 285KW tune as the GTS spark timing is pretty sharp.

Cheers Ringram.

I have got the Commercial version & I don't quite understand the OS thing. Mark @ LSV has tweaked the PCM file to suit the mods he has carried out & will do so again no doubt whe the S/C is fitted next month.

Hopefully then, I can get a bit of instruction.

One thing though, do you need to be conencted to the car when D/L data from the Black Box?

No you can just plug the device into your laptop or desktop.
The main thing is to have verified the PIDs before hand, loaded them into the box, then you should be good to go.
If you set filesize to 0 it will stop and start on the button, otherwise it only makes tiny files which arnt much use. You can get around 40min of logging in it which saves lugging the laptop around.

How do you find the Roadrunner ?? Does it do exactly what it says on the tin, so to speak ??

Nice to see the price has dropped recently too.

Yeah does exactly what it says. Easy 5min install, its basically instant, in fact I didnt even believe it changed it, but it did.
A full reflash of the OS takes about 14 sec. Calibration update a few seconds (can even be done with car running). Individual cells are instant.
There are a few pics of it going in here http://r8transformation.blogspot.com/
Kind of makes the old shutdown and flash approach look pretty archaic.
