On a number of occasions I've seen people say the don't know how to post pictures onto PH and I've answered a couple of them. But my memory is going and its takes ages to remember where I posted it last.
So here's a quick How To ...
Mods
a) If there is a FAQ for this I can't find it, but feel free to bring it to my attention and delete this thread. thumbup
b) I have no affiliation with the website mentioned below. I just use it and it works.

Posting pictures on PistonHeads is like most things in life - simple when you know how, but a sod when you don't. So here's how I do it.

I use this website to load pictures onto the net www.tinypic.com

On the website, fill in the ‘File: ’ box with your file name – use the ‘Browse’ button to search your hard-drive, it works a treat. Click the ‘Upload Image’ button when you are ready.

When you’ve finished uploading, highlight and copy the text in the IMG link field which begins and ends with [IMG]
Copy everything in that box.

Then go to PistonHeads, start your thread and type away. When you are ready to put the picture in, paste the link data you just copied and don't change a thing.
Roberts yer dads brother! (think about it)

One other thing I also do on tinypic.com is click on the ‘email me this link’ button and get it to email the details to me. I then file all tinypic emails away just in case I need to look anything up, although to be honest it's a bit hit-and-miss and doesn't always want to play ball.

Resizing your pictures
You don't really need to worry about resizing etc because the website states "Images larger than 250k are automatically resized"

But if you're posting pictures you've taken on even the most mundane of newish digital cameras the pictures are likely to be somewhere around the 2mb+ mark each.
Although TINYPIC has a 'Resize:' facility (click on the box and you'll see why), you still need to upload the picture in the first place and that takes ages - I won't go into the technicalities of why now.

If I'm going to upload even a single high res photo these days I create a small version on my computer first using some free software called PIXresizer and upload the small version. Its much much faster.
Download PIXresizer from here and give it a go.

Simples neh?!

Edited to update and add stuff about resizing. Barreti

Yes, I did find it at the bottom of the page and didn`t quite know what to do next. I was having a test run on uploading pictures. I can do most things on cars and aircraft but these computer things infuriate me; sometimes.

Tried again, still to many actions involved to post a piccie, I`m sure there are many of us who can`t get the hang of this, is there a simpler method for us who are not computer literate?

scratchchin

Think the above guide in post one, and my guide on http://ph.uncle-dave.co.uk/upload/ is about as good as it will get biglaugh

There is an in-depth pictoral guide there if you haven't seen it already, and no worries you always get there in the end. [And we've all been there rofl]

I wrote a Windows program which monitors the clipboard and lets my forum users automatically host the picture on our site and then copies the correct IMG tag for the image back to the clipboard so they can post it back into a post

I'd be happy to write one for Pistonheads if anyone is interested. Seems to have been favourably received on my forum and automatically resizes the image to a pre-determined width

Only problem is we have no bandwidth restrictions so storing the image on our server is fine. Might not be the same scenario on here and Ted might not want to increase bandwidth usage

Bloody hell Steve !

Right, this is a challenge.

1. Go to the website
2. On the right hand side of the window which comes up is a button which says 'Browse' - click it.
A window will pop up so you can rummage around your own PC for the pic.
3. Find the picture you want to upload, click it once. The name will be put in the File name field at the bottom
4. Click the button 'Open' at the bottom right of the page.
This will take you back to the website with the Image field filled in.
5. Click the button ‘Upload Image

Your picture will now upload.
When it's finished you will see 3 fields on the right which have data in them.

6. Highlight everything in the middle field only - press and hold the left mouse button, drag to the other end, let go
7. Right click and select Copy
8. Come back to this thread. Type in 'This is my picture Barreti, Thanks' and press Enter to get onto a new line.
9. Right click your mouse and select Paste
10. Click on the 'Submit Reply' button on the bottom of the Pistonheads window.

Done.

Tell me you can't follow that and I'm coming around to your house to cull you from the gene pool

No seriously, if you that step by step and fail, email me and tell me where.
Making it simple makes it look very complicated but only because I've had to really spell everything out. I can post a picture onto a thread in less than a minute, including the upload time.
Honestly, it's simple. Does this not look like an honest face nerd

Don't give up

When you upload the pics to uncle-dave it give you a full link. You then insert that link in between the [pic] tags

So quote this post and you will see what I mean!
