What is it whith the sheer lack of race tracks in the northe east ?
have we not got room for 2 black strips in a field(santa pod)?
have we not got the most perfect geography for hill climbs?
have we no framers climing poverty with fields just desparate to be tarmaced?
why is the north east , even the whole north so depleated there must be a reason ?

The reason is NIMBY'S.

Warden Law karting track is a good example, they have complaints all the time about noise, despite being located in the middle of no where. There was also (I don't know if it's still active) an action group trying to get it shut down.

Too bloody true. I say the next time developers propose building a phucking retail park, all us blokes should moan our c*nts off until they build a drap strip out the back of it...

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.

Ever seen the crowds at Croft other than on a BTCC / Superbike weekend?

There's your reason. Too many "fans" who only come out of hibernation for the big events and don't support the club meets and rallycross in the middle of winter...

This weekend at Croft the "Great and British" meeting. Minis, Radicals, Karts, Ginetta GT Juniors, more Minis and Binis. So who's going? I'll be there both days with a noon start on Sunday for those who enjoy their Saturday nights.

I,m a regular at croft and prefer the smaller meetings the BTCC Superbikes are too chocka for me ,Harewoods a great venue as well so is barbon hillclimb , still a shame theres not more meetings/venues in the north east but turnout can be poor at some of these smaller meetings we all need to support what we have already though.

This weekend will be one of the few meets i've missed at Croft this year as i'm off to Silverstone for the Britcar 24 Hours.

I'll be at the remaining Croft meets for this year though

It's a killer if you're carrying load of camera gear up that hill though

I did actually discuss this with someone once, in one of those "what would you do if you won the lottery" type conversations. We planned to buy a huge field (North of Newcastle so as not to interfere with Croft too much) and make a race track. We'd then have a big super secure hanger and we'd spend about £250,000 or so on about 10 track cars to hire out and use at toys thumbup

Now I just need to win the lottery...

Your spot ON I have thought the same for years,What we need is a land owner who thinks like US.or a road race like Monaco.are we dreamers? lets form a COMMITEE.
