Having read the Childrens seat messages, can anyone provide me with the brands and types that fit in the back of a 996. At the moment other than Porsche seats I understand the Britax trio will fit. Are there any others that anyone would recommend. My daughter is two and I need to get one sharpish before the misses goes nuts at me!!!!!!!!

Second that, mama,s and papa,s protec is an excellent fit, i have one fitted in my 996, i have also removed the upright part of the rear seat giving more legroom for the passenger and it is still a fantastic fit

My ex-boss had a child seat in the back of his 996, but we always thought that was just for his wallet

slighty off topic, but apart from the Porsche pram; what other makes of prams will fit in the boot? Will any fold flat pram work?

I've got a MacLaren buggy that fits behind the rear seats.

The ones that go in the boot tend to fill it up. Just another option.

would it be best then to fold down the pram and put it behind the front seats on the floor then?

My Daughter needs the leg room, the buggy is for my Son.

Obviously it depends on how old/tall the rear passengers are.

Magic.
I have only the one on the way and no other children, from what i have been reading so far if the baby is 0 - 9months then they are in the car cot which goes on the front seat facing backwards and the airbags turned off; wife in the back.
once the baby is over 9 months they can then sit in a car seat which can go in the back seat. Pram can still be folded and place along the floor behind the front seats.

I see, you're still getting some sleep.

My youngest was 18 months when I bought the car so I dont know anything about rear facing seats. This might help from another thread.

The only problem is birth to 9 months, they have to travel in rear facing baby seats. these only go into the front seats off 996's, you MUST get the airbag deactivation unit as well ( there was one for sale here). So your misses will have to travel in the back seat for the first 9 months, not to big an issue as the seat can be push full forward.

Nope.

I asked this question how so many time on this forum and others, and never got a straight answer.

I eventually got it right purely by trying myself, no help from the common PH wisdom, the Maxi-Cosi Cabrio rear facing seat for 0-9 month does fit on the back of a 996.

The front seat does need to br brought forward a bit, but it fits no problem.

Wish someone told me that, I have pics of it fitting in the 996, but am on a dial up connection.

Good luck.

JL

PS: Oh yes, and a Buggaboo also fit perfectly with the wheels off, I tell you, 911, a sensible family car.....

Babies need a lot of stuff, so personally I'd try to keep the boot as empty as possible. Rear facing seats are easier with 4/5 door cars, but the 996 seat moves forward enough to step in and sort out the rear occupants.

For 9 months onward the Recaro Start is a pretty good fit, with safety bolster at the front to start, then you can dump that from about 12kg weight upward.

Well built, speakers in the headrest, about £150.

Is there a booster seat that will fit in the back of a 911? I have a 993 and my girls are about a meter tall, so only need a booster and maybe an adapter to pull the seatbelt closer to their shoulders. The local Halfords are no help at all.

No problem. By the way, you can create an extra couple of inches of room by removing the two seat backs. Its a 15min job with an Allen Key and the pro-tec then will sit slightly further back thereby allowing the front passenger to move their seat back a bit further.

I have heard this before, is it a stright forward job, I mean easy? I take it putting it back is as easy? do you know if it works with the porsche zoom? also does it allow the child seat to recline slighty more than it does at present?

Its not in the manual but this is what you need to do. You need to remove the small plastic cap between the seats; lever it out with a flat screwdriver. Next, unscrew the bolt with an allen key. Then each seat side has another black plastic cap that also lever off with a screwdriver. Unscrew these two bolts with a larger allen key and then out come the seat backs - easy!
