Track club plans more taster days

Hit the track Jack!

Taste a Renault Clio 182 Club
Track day car hire club track-club's repeating its novice days under the brand of Track Day Tasters. The club sees them as an opportunity for you to experience the thrills and excitement of driving round some of the world's most famous racing circuits without the expense of using your own car.

The format is simple and aimed as ensuring that you get the most driving time, combined with an emphasis on learning genuine high speed driving skills and a respect for the track environment.

The company provides cars from its fleet, which ranges from modern hatchbacks such as the Clio 182 Cup to the awesome Caterham CSR 260.

You will start with comprehensive briefings to put you at ease and ensure your and everyone else's safety. Driving will start in either the Clio or Caterham Roadsport and, over the course of the day, you progress into a faster, more adept car such as the Lotus Exige S2.

Pricing for these track day tasters begins at £250 per head which includes the track day, car, instruction, helmet hire and intercoms. All you need to bring is an enthusiasm for learning and driving and track-club provides everything else.

If you ask me I think the Clio would be pretty good fun on-track, certainly for someone new to trackdays. Hell, it's pretty good fun on-road regardless of experience.

Clio has had exceptional feedback from all that have driven it on our days however on the taster days we tend to use Caterhams including the CSR260 and the Ariel Atom.

Probably worth adding that the £250 is actually for a track day with high quality instruction and car hire so you literally just need to turn up.

As Stephen said we tend to use Caterhams and/or Loti simply because it's likely that most people who end up doing track days will use something rear wheel drive and in the majority of cases those will be front or mid engined.

This sounds like a great idea, shame it's not Oulton Park yet though as that's close to me and I go there a lot to watch races.

The questions I have are how much time on track do you get for your money, and how long in each car etc. Personally I like the idea of starting in a Clio 182 or similar and working upwards. Very interested.
