Some poor kid has lost the end of his screwdriver. Luckily for him, I managed to find it buried deep inside my driver door lock. I never managed to find the kid, so if you hear of someone missing the end of the screwdriver, let them know I'm looking for them.

On Monday I called Lotus who tried to refer me to Bell & Colville - but I explained that Bell & Colville have turned me away three times because they 'didn't know my car'. On Monday I called Max at Lakeside Engineering . He said he'd check how much a new set of locks and ignition was and get back to me. I called him again on Wednesday but he had forgotten and hasn't called me back today either (Thursday evening). Same story with Shaun at HR Owen - called him Monday and he'll get back to me, but didn't return today's call . Five calls, no result.

What's up with these Lotus dealers? Are they all out of locks, or just too busy for new business? Does anyone know a Lotus Dealer that can provide a replacement lock? or any level of customer service?

I thought this level of poor service was researved for TVR dealers!

I hate to reccommend Peter Smiths, but I have found they always seem to have the parts I need in stock.

You could try SGT in Maidenhead. Ask for Steve in Lotus parts.

Good luck.

I think sometimes you just have a bad run of luck with dealers depending on which guy you talk to.

I have had a good response from London Lotus Centre (HR Owen Group). My stuff is Esprit related but they sell lots of Elises and so on. On the other hand, Bell and Colvill didn't seem to care whether they got my business or not, and generally weren't very enthusiastic about doing anything which was a special or unfamiliar request.

Whenever I deal with Lotus service centres I ask for the service dept. manager, that way it's less easy for them to 'forget' etc.
