Thought I might share some pics of my 'stealth', as the yanks call it, iPod install in my E46 Touring.

Used some of the guides on E46 Fanatics as well as some of my own noddle and I'm quite pleased with the results. The iPod is 'installed' in the armrest between the driver and passenger. All wiring is hidden and fed back to the technoboxes in the rear of the car.

The technology behind the install is the Desion IceLink Plus, it enables you full control of the iPod interface through the steering wheel and displays Artist and Title on the Sat Nav or any other Beemer radio system.

I think the IceLink has now been supeceded by something even tricker that allows you to use your satnav screen to watch video stored on the latest iPods.

If anybody is interested in links etc I will gladly pass them on. My car is officially (for me) finished now with iPod integration, fully plumbed in Road Angel and finally I have found a phone that works flawlessly with the BMW Bluetooth set-up which is a bit errr... tetchy. DMS maybe in a few months time.

P.s. the original wiring install which I did a few weeks back was not for the faint hearted, the more gizmos you have the more complicated it gets and getting the audio for the tele, sat nav, phone, ipod and current stereo all to work took a few brave moves. It's worth it now it's all working at last!
