For track use which is best? Any thoughts? bearing in mind the Pagids cost almost twice as much as the EBC's

In view of the Name and Shame Policy I shall limit myself to saying I have never used Pagid, know nothing about them, agree they are expensive and would definitely by them or pads made by the Willy Wonka Pad Making Co-Operative of Inuit Indians who only make pads using whale blubber and finest brazilian cocoa for religious reasons rather than anything by EBC.

Changed from EBC tp Pagid RS14 and RS15's. Yes they are expensive, but they IMHO are bloody great. Done 4 trackdays so far, and had no brake fade or problems. They work pretty good from cold as well.

Just my scientific 2p.

Pagid Blues, every time. Expensive and hard on your discs but they certainly slow you down.

A couple of years ago I was given several sets each of EBCs different compounds (Reds, Ceramic Reds, Yellows,....even Greens!) FOC to evaluate and give feedback. I ended up giving away about 8 sets of pads as there was no way I would use them.

Pagid Greys (RS15) have a much higher friction coefficient than the Blues. they are also slightly kinder to discs. Be aware that the they do need some heat in them to work properly, so aren't ideal for a car that is used on the road. A bit more expensive than the blues. Not all compounds are available for all cars/caliper types. Speak to John Freeth at Performance Braking 01600 713117, who actually knows what he's talking about in comparisson to half of the 'motorsport' suppliers, who are simply retailers and have no racing experience. They are just 'bolt-on' merchants (e.g scooby 'bolt-on' boys)

Car-ist. I'll have you know some of my performance mods are not just bolt on. Some are glued, some cable-tied and others gaffer taped.

Try pagid yellows if you're doing track days. They're an endurance compound which arn't as harsh on disks as people make out. This year I've done 2 Ring trips, 2 track days at Cadwell, 2 at Croft and one at Mallory Park ... all on the same front pads in a heavy (1400kg) car!

pad choice is very dependent on your cars weight and the usage of the car, ie dedicated track/race car or fast road/track etc.

EBC never get on any shortlist of mine anymore

I swear By EBC, I get them half price, being a Marshal, so I thought I'd give them a go, along with there groved/blind drilled disc, and they are awesome.

Don't forget, You are doing track days, not race days, it's not a race!

I guess it depends on the car, If it's big and german you are gonna end up with trouble no matter what you use, you should hear an RS6 in the pits after 2 flying passenger laps, I've never seen anything smoke after so little use!!!

I'm on green stuff, but might go for red next time to see what they are like

Odd how experiences vary.

I can categorically say that Greenstuff are by an infinite margin the worst pads I have ever had the misfortune to use.

Ceramic reds are an OK road pad but not up to track use in a car the size of an Impreza.

Indeedy, EBC Yellows suposidly a full on endurance race pad lasted me 3 sessions of a track day, spoke to tech desk, v helpfull & new set sent out gratis form a diferent batch, another trackday & exactly the same happened.

Mate used the last set in his car & had exactly the same issues.

& we've both used 3 or so diferent manufacturer types with never an issue.

They were fine on road before tracking tho, then again so are cheapo halfords jobbies.

However 2 other mates- same cars same brake set up, love the yellows & really rate 'em.

Odd indeed.

Never ever heard complaints ref Pagid blue tho (other than price)

I have run Pagid RS14 (black) for an hour on track fine and Pagid RS42 (blue) for 30 minutes whereas EBC greenstuff, ahem, 6 minutes. Guess it depends on how hard you brake.

Agreed, Pagid make great pads, although the blues are a bit noisy ime. Best stoppers I have tried, although Hawk carbon metallics always get good recommendations as well.

I am running Hawk Ferro-Carbon on the Comp-Brake 330mm upgrade kit for my scoob. Incrdibly effective and so stable. Hugely impressed with them. Eat discs mind.
