His golden handshake was a gift of a Toyota F1 car, IIRC.
Would've gone for the Rolex myself, running the F1 car must put a hefty dent in his pension funds...

In 96/97(?) the Ligier was finally becoming a fast car, and he was a regular front runner. But then the Canadian GP leg-breaking shunt meant the momentum was lost. It was a real shame, as he had always drawn the short straw and things were looking great.
Contrary to common belief, the Monaco win was no fluke - he was the only person actually overtaking other people for position on track. It was an extremely good drive. Just a shame all the others DNF'd after he had overtaken them!
