I see the ring is open all day every Sunday during October and November. Anyone been this time of year? Can the weather be very changeable. Does morning dew take a long time to dry off? Any autumn debris (leaves etc) on the track? I hate driving on damp greasy tracks (which is how many country roads get in the morning at this time of year. I assume it will be a bit less busy?

Hey,

yes, yes, yes and erm...yes.

The ring is a changeable place, winter or summer. The Crowded house song "four seasons in one day" should be played our the tonoy on all open days!

basically you take a chance any time. moisture can hang around if its cold, but a light breeze will take it off quite quickly. even so, the tree lined section, and there are several, will hold moisture for longer. But dates mean nothing. I've been in may and had sleet, sept and been T-shirt weather. There are no rules with the ring really, because its over three hills in a huge plain.

go anyway, its too much fun to miss and nowhere near as bad as peeps make out. we used to put the frighteners out to keep it to ourselves!

we go next in Oct. 'Bout 10 TVRs.

cheers

I asked a similar question a while back link and the general consensus was as Guillotine has said - JFDI. So I'll be there for the first three days of October.

Going there on the weekend of the 20th October, and just taking a chance if it pours with rain there will be less bikers on the track

Just the afternoon of the 16th for me. Then on to Spa for a trackday on the 17th; a slightly safer venue to really push the Z06 to the limits IMO.

Boss Cerbera is joining in with Guillotine's lot and I'll be gatecrashing on those 2 days. Can't wait!

OK thanks for the info folks. I've been to the ring 3 times already but always in the middle of summer and always had t-shirt weather. Wasn't sure what to expect this time of year. I'm only 3 hours up the road now so looks like I'll be making a few trips this autumn. Hopefully may see a few PH'ers there too!

ETA: Fcuk me here's a photo of me in my 968 at the ring I didn't even know existed!

as was said eairlier by someone else you never know what weather you will get
ive been there in summer and it may as well have been winter and vice versa
what ever the weather it is a blast and well worth the trip, it is the best track in the world !
my best bit of advice ( my free 2p worth ) is always look in your mirrors .......
no matter how fast you are there is always someone faster behind you ,
i was there a few years ago in a Vauxhall Astra 888 Turbo and a local guy in a VW Passat tdi
flew by like i was standing still....... local knowledge

I have learnt, that no matter where you are in Germany ... its nearly always a Passat TDi doing the stealth rocketship thing.

I have no idea what they do to them, but some of them can realy shift ...
