hi all, ok, I don't have a fast car, but I do have a little sports bike that handles well, and does 4.5s 0-60... The question is, do mobile speed camera units have to be clearly marked, and placed visible from the road? I just got a NIP, and I know it wasn't from a main Gatso - I just don't recall seeing a van, or anything. Hell, I don't even remember being there, and I don't usually speed in a 40 either. But that's not the question. Any opinions would be most welcome... rgds.

If you read my post exactly same things just happened to me..seems to be nothing to do with safety at all, problem is how long are we goig to keep our licences if you have unmarked cars or vans hiding in bushes on deserted country roads?

Hmmm.

Sorry JR, I'm not sure I beleive you in this case. I know the rest of posters here take your word as gospel, but I recall a situation in Harlow, Essex, where many cases were overturned because the camera van was not visibly marked.

In any case, not marking the vehicles is the same as jumping out of a hedge: nasty, underhand, and devious.

One day there will be the most almighty backlash against this sort of thing, and it won't be pretty.

Picture this, irate driver already on a few points, nicked for +1mph for the Nth time. Risks losing job, mortgage, family. Prison. So, stop immediate after camera van, and retrieve film. With extreme prejudice. Wait and see.

Won't be me, no siree... I'm off to buy a new detector + satnav gadget.

Incidentally, with speeding now ranked more important that burglary, more people will take up B&E - less risk !!!

See ya round.
