OK, here'e the problem; HTF do you boil the perfect egg?

I sometimes have two boiled eggs for breakfast but can never get them 'just right', i.e. both runny enough for 'soldiers'. By the time I've finished the first, the second is too hard and my Marmite soldiers are useless.

Solutions please....

BTW, I use a stopwatch to time them - 4' 20" after bringing the water to the boil. Is my timing way out or what?

3 minutes is all you need for the perfect eggie (from boiling with the egg at room temp)...... and toasted soldiers of course.... and a bit of salt and pepper

There was a trick my mum used to use, when I was young. Chuck the match she lit the hob with in the pan of water. when it floated back to the top, eggs were perfect.

If the first one is right then I would just run the second one under cold water to try and stop it cooking more inside the shell, that or lop the top off at the same time.

According to the wife.....
1)Put the eggs in cold water.
2)Bring it to the boil.
3)Boil for 1 minute.
4)If you lift the egg out on a spoon and if the shell dries, that will give you the perfect egg for soldiers.
5)If NOT goto 3.

4 mins for medium eggs, a bit more for large eggs.

If one is slightly smaller, eat that first

Bring water to the boil, put eggs in pan and immediately put bread in toaster.

When toast pops, take it out, cut into soldiers or fairies (whichever your preference is) and then immediately take the eggs out.

Perfect timing every time.

the time it takes depends entirely on the altitude of your kitchen.

Although it would depend on the altitude........
