Figured I might do a few laps myself during the day but I'm planning to take the photo mast along as well which means I'll have to dump the kit in a garage (or hopefully some of it somewhere a bit more secure) and take the box and bars off the roof. Or maybe I'll just leave them on - doesn't seem to make much difference to the performance ...
Wow, what a difference, last time I was at Donington it was for the Chav festival, sorry the Renualt thing, free entry and 50 thousand muppets turn up, Yesterday £10 (or free again to those in the know ) and about 50 people turn up, and half of them driving something 'exotic' 
Bumped into Peter Wheeler who was racing his Aston, some stunning cars in the Paddock, and some great racing, loved the mixed bag race, watching the old Aston hold off the 911 for half the race was great to watch, but drive of the day goes to the guy in the white 944 turbo, even if he did punt Wheeler off, it looked and sounded like it was rocket powered, not sure why he was so far down the grid but he was quicker than anything out there.

The 944 went sick after a few laps of practice/qualifying which may explain the grid position. Remarkable noise from it though I am not sure it was enjoyable.
The big Healeys put on a fantastic qualifying show - just like a race really.

Ah, didn't see what led up to it but the 944 was certainly mixing it quite well in the laps around that time.

Cheers! Quite a few nice ones over the weekend but some which did not work out at all - especially from Mallory on the Sunday when the light was poor. Might have been ok but were hugely under exposed.
These two, and a few others from the same location, were purely by chance. I was driving back around the track from the DPRAC clubhouse towards Coppice to use the tunnel and happened to notice that the emergancy access gap was without its normal recovery unit. So there was an open view of McLeans up the hill and the sun in the best position. So I parked, lugged the kit off the passenger seat and rested it on the gate on the inner fence to see what could be seen.
Suffice to say that if the recovery tractor could be always absent (and the sun always out ...) it would make a reasonably good location for a horde of snappers.
The originals, before compression for the web, look really bright on my notebook screen. I'll have to try a print or two to see how they come out.

If you don't see the TVR there look out for a Blue Mk4 Golf which will be being driven as if it is stolen.
There might have to be a small car change for me due to technical difficulties beyond my control.

The weather forecast for the day suggests a 60% chance of rain.
Oh well, it will help me stick to my policy of being sensible, though I may not bother taking the full photo mast rig since I could then dismount it and leave it at home. It would not be much use trying for interesting shots in the rain or a on dull day anyway.
