I do not believe there are any trackdays at Thruxton, due to the very tight local noise regs. Even testing is very rare.

But you can sign up for one of their experience days and learn it like that.

It's an awesome circuit if you have a fast car, particularly the section of Noble/Goodwood/Church where you must nail your testicles to the wall.

I have only ever driven Thruxton in the "race school"'s Elise. Their "Elise experience" is the most laps for the least money...

They used to do a few days a year where you could take your own car to the "race school". And before that I think they had a thing where the last hour of the day was handed over to people driving their own cars.

All this has stopped I believe - and was never really publicised anyway...

The Elise experiance at Thruxton was great. I really gave it hell the whole time out there.

Compared to a Silverstone Elise experiance in a 111r - the instructor was awful, shouting at me and being quite nasty! very nearly ttted him it was that bad!!

Ive been hunting too & only spotted just one day last yr, Heritage/Evo day www.heritagetrackdays.com/Calendar.htm
but they then went & made it a novice day which was a real shame.

Evo/Heritage days not the best behaved folks found on track at the best of times tho anyway.

Yes. Its annoying isn't it! Its my local track - by far the closest. I'd love to drive it more often. And I'd love to have a decent amount of track time. "Experiences" really don't cut the mustard on that front.

Wahoo! That would be Great!. I wonder if the PCGB could get a day there...might try asking Steve. In any event - if someone reputable starts doing them - or if the race school runs them - I think I'll book on and go and enjoy my local circuit.

I did one of my very early track days there in the late 90's must have been in my caterham superlight R. They were very noise sensitive then. Great circuit, hope they open for track day business next year.

They still have a Lotus, only its an Exige now. I've had a go in both now and the Exige is significantly faster. It has the Toyota 1.8 VVTi-L Engine (The same as is in my Corolla). I was a bit miffed I kept getting told to change up though as you don't get the full effect of the Engine till after 6000rpm.rolleyes The Formula Renault single seaters they have there are excellent fun too. I'm planning on going back for a third time next year!

i did the 360&single seater day there a few years back. you can keep the single seaters flat out in top for most of the lap they are so slow (limited) and they are ultra nervous about overtaking so no chance to ever remotely strech the 360 let alone actually have fun. total novices only. crap.

I think the no overtaking must depend on which instructor you have. Both the ones on my courses were happy to let me overtake anything and everything!

Yep. I told the chap what sort of experience I had and we passed absolutely everything else on the circuit. This isn't a boast. Its just that the difference between someone with some experience and someone with none is truly vast in the corners...
