My project supercar
Discussion
Here is my car...... its not complete (I estimate around 20% thus far) as I am building it from scratch.
The car has been grown from my desire to own a supercar but lacking funds to do so whick I guess its a common problem Lol.
The engine I'm using is a BMW V12 from a 750 and fitting twin turbo's (hence GTT) so it should go well, the engine management is an M800 and I had new Garett turbo's made up to my spec.
The body is my design and I have been modelling it from my mind as I lack the skills to do proper drawing first, therefore I have had to remake almost everything more than once to get the shapes exactly as I want. It's a slow process but I think it's finally comming together, I hope to be making moulds early 2007 and have a final body in the summer.

The chassis is a bespoke item made by me from scratch, as are the wishbones although I did pay a profesional to design the geometry and help me with the basic chassis design.
The uprights are alloy blanks front, steel fabricated rear and are machined for Porsche 996 hubs and upgraded motorsport bearings.
Gearbox is from a Posche GT3 cup race car which I hope will cope with the potentially huge torque the engine will produce.
The Wheels are KAHN 19in split rims with Enzo 345 rubber on the rear.
Its a decepivelly large car as it's in fact 2m wide and just over 4m long, but I have tried to make it look lotus elise sized to keep perspective.
Colour will be a surprise as I'm keep that a secret even from myself.

Thanks for the replies good to know I'm on the right lines as I've never done this kind of thing before and I often find myself bashing my head against the nearest wall in frustration.
I currently have no plans to sell the car as it's a hobbey and I'm not convinced there is a market for it. However never say never.
Been having fun with cardboard and mocking up the rear end over the last week and after many iterations here is the latest with some colour added in PSP.

Firstly, hello Andy! Just signed up to Pistonheads having ghosted for about a year now, anyways I must say that that is absolutely awesome!
Glad you went with a cleaner front end, looked a bit McLaren before! Just had a fiddle with that cardboard mock for the back, feel free to tell me where to shove it... Anyways keep up the good work, and the photo diary!
Cheers,
Phil
