I'm not asking you all out, but I am just wondering, what do you do for lunch when at work or home? Do you go out? How much does it normally cost you.

Reason I ask is that this week I've been cycling in to work and also taking my own lunch in, in the form of 2 tubs of pasta and 4 sandwhiches.

I've probably saved about £15 this week by doing just that.

Oh and do any of you have any suggestions for pasta that might be nice cold? That I can make at home and then eat at work at lunch time.

Cook some pasta (those twirl things are good), bit of green pesto, a few black olives and sun drived tomatoes and some tuna. lick

Bit of an off topic question for a motoring website, but I normally make some sarnies, a bag of crisps, some chocolate and take some fresh milk in to make some tea and have a bowl of porridge for breakfast.

Now if we can make this motoring related......

What's the furthest distance you travel for that extra special lunch. I used to drive from Gosforth to Washington, just to be able to get a Spicy Donner meat Calzone pizza from piazza pizza. lick

I'm lucky enough to live about 2-3 miles from where I work. Although I only get a rubbish 45 minutes, I pop home make a very quick sandwich & cuppa. Then it's time to get back to the office.

P.S Tuna pasta salad is very nice, & also good for you. thumbup

I can take any amount of time I want for lunch, but I get stuck in traffic at lunch time. (I'm on flexi)

I've driven to Seaton Delaval for an Ice Cream before, Delaval Ices, really nice Ice Cream!

I'd drive to The Coffee Cottage on Chillingham Road, really nice home made food and I know the woman who owns it, as I used to sell cars opposite the Coffee Cottage.

Today we had the excellent idea of brunch at the airport. You know, bad bacon washed down with lots of planes taking off and landing to show the nippers through the massive window, together with the excitement of feeling as though you might be going on holiday when you aren't.
Well, we had to be quick as parking half on the kerb turns out to cost a fiver after twenty minutes. Then the poor quality bangers turn out to be only available once you've passed through customs, so we made do with expensive coffee and bad sandwiches from costa in some grotty little corner on the first floor.
Not one plane appeared during our short visitrolleyeshehe

Summary: Next time be sensible and go to that nice place on Gosforth high street...Or Willow teas off acorn road. Or Paradiso. Anywhere else, really.

Score:3/10

bang on bob-san.

all this guff about lunch 'hours' dayum! I work from 9am to 8pm most days and only take a few hours off in between for PH

lunch, though was last taken frequently circa 1999 when I didn't have a job that made me more money the longer I worked at it

A 'hydraulic lunch' is the recommended one drink

but not whilst involved with the car keys........nono

This should be followed by a 'power-nap' of approx 2.5 hrs. sleepsleepsleep

I have to say, when I had a job I loved I worked pretty much all the hours I could. I took half hour for lunch, I could have taken an hour, but I wanted to get over my sales targets.

I used to do Door to Door sales and we'd have about 40 mins break at about 4:30 pm as we'd be on our feet from 10 am and wouldnt get home till half 11 some times.

It really does depend on what job you do I think, if you like your job then you'll work through and work hard at it. If like mine you don't like it then you'll just wish lunch time was upon you.

I eat out nearly every day for lunch, tried loads of place in central Newcastle and the Quayside.

I know it's only a cheap place but the food in the Waterline has been great over the last few weeks.

I live 4 minutes from the office, so I can nip home, have a corned beef sarnie and a coffee, a poo and a browse on the net... all at the same time, if needs be

Bollox.

I don't get paid enough not to eat... I may sit at my desk and carry on doing stuff, but I still find time to shovel something down my cake-hole.

Dependent on which office I'm in, it's usually a combination of greggs, peters, or subway in the galleries, various sandwhich shops (and subway ) in newcastle, or the crappy little sandwich van...

I should really make my own, but it's difficult enough to be arsed to make breakfast of a morning, let alone lunch as well!

the point is that people are posting about what they do in the hour they have for lunch whereas the implication is that bob, I and clearly your good self scran at our desks as we have such high-powered responsible jobs hehe
